Sherlock: ::to Esme:: Hey! ::looking at T'Ama laying back on the couch:: Hope she wasn't too much of a handful.
Opening her eyes, she briefly assessed everything that had happened. Esme had been pretty good, only cried a little. She had more or less done what you could expect from a baby at her stage of development.
T’Ama: Only a little bit.
Martinson: No trying to eat communicators?
Sherlock: Last thing we need is a visit to Sickbay.
She pressed her lips together - she wasn’t going to say anything to that. Peeling herself off the couch, she addressed Esme.
T’Ama: Let’s show Mama what you learned! Can you say T’Ama?
Esme: Ta-ma!
T’Ama: ::clapping along:: Yaaaaay! ::to Sherlock:: She has shown rapid improvement on her enunciation.
Sherlock: Wow, two new words. That's impressive.
Esme: No…
Martinson: Three. Don't like that one.
T'Ama: She can say ess too.
Kinda.
Sherlock: So long as she doesn't learn about the c-o-m-p-u-t-e-r. She'll figure out how to get the door if that happens.
T'Ama: It has voice recognition. Even if she got the command codes she’d have to be a good mimic.
Mel had picked the baby up and taken her over to the replicator.
Sherlock: Thanks a lot for doing this. It's nice to get a night out.
T'Ama: You are welcome.
Sherlock: And ::beat:: if you ever want to do it again…
A full second of silence passed before she answered.
T'Ama: ::dryly:: Ew! Blegh! Gross! ::knowing smirk:: Bye. ::louder:: BYE, ESME!
And with that, she escaped.
