Doucet: Good. I will say I am confident in the process. Doctor Edrei’s work was thorough. I’ve double checked everything. You and Ghee’looth are in perfect health. We have some of the best medical facilities in Starfleet on board this ship and all the information we’d need to make this happen. All that is left is to start the process. We can do that anytime you’d like. Do you have any questions about any of this?

Xiron: Only about a million but I suppose we will be addressing them one by one as we go.

Is’Kah: I have far less because I addressed them with Doctor Edrei.

Sylvie nodded, acknowledging both answers. They could guess at what Ghee wanted to know and many of those would be answered as the opportunity came up naturally. The Andorian seemed anxious from the way her antennae waggled.

Doucet: Alright.

Xiron:: A sly smile creased her face:: What are the chances our child will have spots?

Is’Kah: As that is not an enhancement of any kind, would it be possible to ensure they do have spots, Vulcan ears, and Andorian antenna?

Sylvie chuckled and shook her head.

Doucet: Trill spots are a dominant trait, it seems, so I imagine they will be there. As for Vulcan ears and Andorian antennae, it depends on how much of that DNA ends up being expressed and how the baby develops. We can certainly nudge it in that direction, but we can’t guarantee it without risking running foul of regulations prohibiting designer babies.

Is’Kah:  I see.

Xiron: Response

Doucet: Of course. Anything else?

Is’Kah:  I don’t have more questions. Do you, Ghee’looth?

Xiron: Response

Is’Kah: Is there a waiver or consent form we should sign?

Doucet: I don’t believe it’s required, but we do have a document you can sign affirming that we have discussed everything and that you’re aware of the risks. It is a part of the information package describing everything, including recommendations for your diet and the drug regimen you’ll need to be on for things to work out. Most of it is standard stuff about how to handle a pregnancy, plus some other documents I added that are relevant to you two. Doctor Edrei probably spoke about most of that with you already or it’s publicly available, Is’Kah, so this information might not be new to you.

Xiron: Response

Doucet: Mmhm. There are some bits that aren’t negotiable because they’re essential for the survival and well-being of both of them, especially with a hybrid pregnancy, but a lot of it can be up to your discretion, provided you’re informed of the pros and cons. Some of it will be playing it by ear. There’s enough information on hybrid pregnancies by now that we know more of what to look for as far as signs of trouble and what things, big or small, that we can do to nudge the needle more towards success. We can discuss each step more in detail as it comes up. If there’s anything this department can’t answer on our own, we will contact specialists and get their input.

Is’Kah / Xiron: Response

Doucet: Sounds good. When do you want to start? There is a little bit of preparation I need to do, so we can’t start right this minute but otherwise, we can schedule it anytime.

Is’Kah / Xiron: Response

Doucet: ::nodding:: Alright. I’ll see you then.
