“The Art Of Observation”
((Security Offices, Deck Nine, USS Valkyrie-A))
They trained you when you joined Starfleet and they trained you further once you joined your ‘A’ School for your rating. Master-At-Arms was one of the oldest ratings – stemming all the way back from the ancient days of sail in the same way Yeomen, Boatswain's Mates, Gunners Mates and Quartermaster’s had survived over a half a millennium of evolution.
In his training they taught you that you were there for security and force protection and for law enforcement. To observe, to investigate…although you did not need to be skilled in investigation to notice that almost every other person he had walked past on his way to the main security office was in some form of formal attire or ball gown.
Still, it was shore leave and until he had reported for duty it was not his problem. He felt a pang in his stomach…there it was again…that feeling over everything being real.
He stood in front of the doors to the security office for what must have been the longest two seconds in the history of time before stepping inside.
Once inside he found that the facility was, in actuality, quite quiet. It wasn't a complete shock given the ship was not fully active and a lot of the functions for security would likely be covered by the forces from Starbase One. That said, it did nothing to ease his nerves and impostor syndrome that he was somehow in the wrong place.
He walked past the main desk and towards an open door from here he could hear a frustrated muttering. He looked inside and saw a woman with long dark hair struggling with the rear clasp of her really quite elegant sparkly blue cold shoulder dress.
Rasmussen: ::Unsurely:: Lieutenant Xiron?
The woman turned and he saw the purple Trill spots as she did so - distinctive certainly was the word…and surreal.

Rasmussen: Crewman, Third-Class Wolfgang Rasmussen Ma’am. Reporting for duty but…er...do you need a hand?
