((Aelvarai Selav, Aelkuun))

The shuttle flew past the main continent of Aelkuun, yet Is’Kah focused on the sensors to avoid looking out the window. It wasn’t that zha was that afraid of flying anymore, but looking out the viewport made zhen stomach churn and threaten to empty itself. Such was the curse of being pregnant.

The Chief of Tactical and Security stood at 145 centimeters (4’9), with reddish-brown hair shaved on the left side from the part line down, while the rest came to a point on the right side. The exposed skin showed zhen Trill spots and Vulcan ear.

Thankfully, it wasn’t long before the shuttle landed on an island that seemed almost too small to land on. There was a temple complex that was just to the north, half in the ocean. Before Is’Kah could step out, Zol was out the door.

Is’Kah pinched the bridge of zhen nose, knowing that the new officer was following in the steps of every other science officer and rushing ahead. Hopefully, they didn’t have the propensity to touch everything before scanning.

A K’tsélai was waiting for them, wearing a wetsuit and a beautiful wrap around her torso. Arms outstretched, the local greeted them with a bow.

Ne’Tatkret: Hello. I see you and greet you openly. I am Ne’Tatkret of the Ne'tsetiira'lu clan. Some find it easier to call me Ne’Tatekret and that is fine too. I am the leader of this research team. I take it you are of Starfleet?

The greeting was simple, but appropriate for the situation.

Zol: We are. Thank you for having us. I am Ensign Janai Zol.

The petite Trill hybrid bowed respectfully while holding out a flat, smooth stone from zhen meditation garden, straddling zhen palms.

Is’Kah: Greetings, Ne’Tatkret of the Ne'tsetiira'lu clan, I am Is’Kah of the Xiron clan, Lieutenant of Starfleet. Please accept this token as an offering of peace.

Zha knew zha had not completed the greeting properly, but there was little record on the Valkyrie. The ones that did contradicted each other, so Is’Kah tried a simple one.

Ne’Tatkret: Response?

Ada: Response

They were studied by Ne’Tatkret while each spoke before responding. Once they had finished, she pointed at each of them and repeated their names.

Ne’Tatkret: Azura Ada. Iz’Kah Zeeron. Janai Zol.

Is’Kah pondered for a moment if zha was going to correct them, as Zeeron was a reasonable way to pronounce zhen name.

Zol: We are eager for a glimpse at your history, Ne'Tatkret.

Is’Kah: Close, Ne’Tatkret. It is sEARon.

Ada: Response

Ne’Tatkret: Understood. Welcome to Aelvarai Selav. It is an island that has an old temple that the Va’tsekeluai’ra clan built long ago. We are here to investigate it before it is lost entirely to the waters here. It is partly underwater. You can all swim, yes-yes? We have spare wetsuits but I don’t know if they will fit you.

The way Ne’Tatkret studied them, it was clear that she was concerned if they could swim or not. Thankfully, Is’Kah had leaned in the Academy.

Zol: I come from a family of swimmers, and I can hold my own in the water. I think we'll manage to fit in your wetsuits - I hope so, at least.

Is’Kah: I have been trained on how to swim.

Ada: Response

Is’Kah watched Zol take a few steps closer to the remains of the temple, drawing zhen attention. Zha noted that it had been made of wood, but the rising waters were causing rot. To the Trill hybrid, the building was just that but the history within, that was what interested zhen.

Zol: Ne'Tatkret, if I may, what does this depict? ::Points at ceramic::

Ne’Tatkret: Response

There were many buildings in the temple complex, and from somewhere there was a musical sound. Slightly turning zhen head, Is’Kah tried to identify the direction it was coming from.

Zol: Where's that sound coming from?

The security officer directed zhen hand at one of the smaller buildings.

Is’Kah: I believe it is in that direction.

Ne’Tatkret/Ada: Response

Zol: I'd love to study that. Commander, Lieutenant, anything you'd like to do?

Is’Kah: That will be acceptable.

Ada: Response

Zol started taking pictures of, well, everything. It was clear that she was thrilled with the archaeological site. Is’Kah had come along because zha wasn’t going to let Ada run off for science on a new planet. There was so much missing information, and if it was up to the Vulcan hybrid, they wouldn’t have stopped. However, it wasn’t exactly a well-explored area of space, and it was better than spending their downtime on a ship.

Zol: Ne'Tatkret, could you tell us about the history of this temple and the  Va’tsekeluai’ra clan?

Is’Kah: I, too, would like to know more.

Ne’Tatkret/Ada: Response

Is’Kah: Fascinating. Does that deity still affect parts of your culture today?

Zol/Ne’Tatkret/Ada: Response

Is’Kah: Is the Va’tsekeluai’ra clan still in existence, or have they been absorbed by another clan?

Zol/Ne’Tatkret/Ada: Response
