Isara sighed and set the PADD down. She’d known something like this was going to happen. Those spooks in SFI were always pulling this kind of stunt. She was sure Captain Ukinix had already received the same communication, but she thought Seleya should hear this from her. If Wil hadn’t already beaten her to it. Plus, there was one more thing she wanted to do.
Aleron: Computer, open a long-range communication with Amity Station in the Delta Quadrant and set time synchronizers to match the delay.
The computer beeped in acknowledgement and she sat back in her chair and waited. And waited.
Finally, the beep sounded again and she could see the Amity Station logo appear on the screen which was quickly replaced with the face of a tired-looking Ensign in a gold uniform.
Comm Officer: =/\= This is Amity Station. Can I help you, Captain? =/\=
Isara smiled at him and nodded.
Aleron: =/\= I apologize, Ensign, for the sudden communication. I’m in the Beta Quadrant and it’s hard to keep track of communications lag. I’m Captain Aleron of the USS Valkyrie, and I was hoping to speak to Lieutenant JG Seleya. Is she around? =/\=
Comm Officer: =/\= Just a moment, Captain. I will put you through to her. =/\=
Aleron: =/\= Thank you, Ensign. =/\=
((OOC: For convenience, since this entire sim takes place over communications, I am dropping the =/\= comm tags =/\=))
After a few moments of staring at the Amity Station logo again, the screen shimmered and the face of the Kazleti Intelligence Officer appeared.
Seleya: Response
Aleron: It’s good to see you again, Seleya. I hope you were successful?
Seleya: Response
She nodded and took a sip of tea, which had gone cold since she’d made it nearly an hour ago.
Aleron: Well, I don’t know if Captain Ukinix has had the chance to brief you yet, but I wanted to reach out personally. I just received word from Starfleet Command that your temporary assignment on Amity is now permanent.
Seleya: Response
She nodded at the Kazleti, trying not to let the frustration show on her face. She realized this was probably a good thing for the Intelligence Officer’s career, but it was no less annoying for her to lose such a fine officer.
Aleron: Well, Seleya, I must say this is quite annoying for another reason that you might think. Generally, I like to promote my officers in person.
Seleya: Response
She laughed and sat forward, grabbing for a small box she’d deliberately kept away from the communications camera.
Aleron: Yes, promotion. Based on your performance reports, and your performance during the Stillwater incident, I decided you more than earned a promotion. Congratulations, Lieutenant Seleya.
Seleya: Response
A warning signal lit up on her console and she frowned slightly.
Aleron: It seems like our micro-wormhole might be closing, so I am going to have to go. Congratulations again, and best of luck on your new assignment. Aleron out.
