((Brew Continuum, Deck 7, USS Valkyrie))
The Orion women sat gathered around a table in the Brew Continuum, drinks in hand as they talked and laughed together. The air around them carried a mingling of sweet, bitter, and spiced aromas...an unspoken invitation to relax, to share, and, for some of them, bringing a quiet sense of simply belonging.
Reine'X: And how did you all end up in Starfleet...? It’s not like there are a lot of us here...
Zarax: Mmm, that tastes like heaven. :: she allowed the bliss to linger a moment longer, then addressed Reine’X’s question :: To answer you, because I was grateful to Starfleet for rescuing me from a life I didn’t want, I knew I wanted to join them. I worked the rest of my teen years preparing for the entrance exam. And now, here I am, a fighter pilot on one of the best ships in the fleet.
Tani: That this ship is. I even have a whole newsroom. On the Chin’toka, I had to turn part of my quarters into one.
Vaysha: Well, me personally? I was always into ships growing up, having been born on one. My father had me in the helm seat around the same time I learned to walk. ::She chuckled.::
Reinex: That's so interesting.
Zarax: Indeed. Have you met Neshala yet, Vaysha? She’s another Orion, but she mainly works in Ops. Communications, specifically. But her dream job is the one you just landed.
Tani: Wait, she doesn’t fly the ship? My source on the Bridge reports that she’s always flying.
Reine'X:: I wouldn't know, as I was stuck in Sickbay the whole mission:: she said matter-of-factly, adressing all of them.
Vaysha: Oh, no. My first posting was on Denali Station. It was.. well. Let's just say I hope to make better memories here.
Zarax: Well, I’ve been assigned to several places myself. I was first assigned to the USS Atlantis as the tactical officer for their Hawkeye shuttle. Then, when the Captain decided to get rid of it, I requested to train as a fighter pilot, which I’ve been ever since. I transferred with most of the Atlantis crew to the Chin’toka when it was first launched, then the Astraeus, Chin’toka again, and now here.
Tani: I believe I’ve seen you in passing while we were on the Chin’toka,
Reine'X: That seems like quite the journey, Zarax.::turning now to the rest of the group:: As for me, the Valkyrie is my first posting since I joined Starfleet.
Zarax: So, with so many of us here I am wondering when the party starts. After all, girls just wanna have fun, right?
Tani: Do you have a place already in mind?
Vaysha : Response
Reine’X: Anything with a bar would do.
Although she didn’t want to admit it, she was glad she had run into these women. They all had something in common; even if they all had grown up in different places. It was pleasing to her to be among similar people. The setting was also most informal, which was a welcome change, considering most Orions she had met (and there weren’t many) weren't ...as nice.
She was also keen on learning more about the Homeworld.
Zarax: Well, I hear that the planet has a lot of water and plenty of sunlight for our skin. We could go find a beach somewhere, soak up the rays and get our skin nice and green. Maybe dip a toe or two into the water? Or we could go shopping!
Tani: Both sounds delightful. I’m in favor of the beach as I haven’t been to one since I lived in Austin, Texas.
Reinex: Beach sounds delightful! ::she smiled now, as she remembered her many fond memories on Risa.::
The summer vacation 'pleasure planet' was the place where she met her close friend, S'afik. S'afik was a Vulcan and a Federation starship captain. And because she was properly “Vulcanish.”, Reine'X sometimes wondered what the two of them had in common. Still, Safik seemed to enjoy Reine'X’s company.

Tani: Say we meet back up in fifteen minutes at transporter room 3?
Reinex : I guess I’ll go replicate something that would pass here for a bikini:: she smirked at Tani, finished the last sip of the coffee she had been savoring, and stood up.
Zarax / Vaysha: Response
