(( Main Sickbay Complex, Deck 5, USS Valkyrie-A ))

S'Rorr had been asked to come and meet with the new doctors on the medical team, a civilian doctor from the Cardassian exchange program, Soria Deyor, and the new ensign geneticist, Korin Dasal. He was excited to get to know them; he only wished Shivara weren't on duty. The other main goal of the meeting was to tour the new sickbay complexes, plural. While Rory himself wouldn't be working there day to day, he could be called in in an emergency to give Dr. Edrei helping hands and so it would be a very good idea to be familiar with the facilities. The chief, Edrei, seemed to be excited about the new sickbays! oO And who wouldn't be? State of the art, brand new. I bet she'll get to peel some of the plastic film off of the touch screens. Oo

S'Rorr arrived precisely on time with Dr. Edrei as the pocket doors of the first of TWO, count them, TWO Sickbays swushed open to reveal Soria. She was a head taller than the Betazoid doctor Edrei but eye to eye with himself, which surprised him. He always imagined Cardassians to be towering figures. oO Maybe it's the neck, drawing the eye upwards.. majestic. Makes them look so tall. Oo

The Angosian Dr. Korin Dasal was also there beyond the swushing door. Now he really was a towering figure, head and shoulders taller than himself and twice as muscular. S'Rorr started to wonder what the top of his own head must look like. He looked so striking with different colored eyes, piercings, tattoos on his skin, and that shock of bleached hair. It had a messy, just rolled out of bed look that S'Rorr knew from personal experience took an inordinate amount of time and energy to cultivate. oO It takes work to look lazy. Oo

S'Rorr understood from a brief perusal of their service records that Dr Deyor specialized in "Anomalous Medical Conditions" which, considering all pathologies could be seen as anomalous, seemed unnerving. oO Modern medicine isn't stumped often.. what we consider anomalous? Scary stuff! I'm glad we've got an expert. Oo

And the new Dr. Dasal was a geneticist, a DNA specialist, and a person of particular professional interest to him. Someone to watch out for. S'Rorr was no expert on the Angosian people but he knew that their gene technology was as excellent as their genetic super-soldiers. Their application to join the Federation had been put on hold at least once and Dr. Dasal himself had been failed from the Academy at least once for being 'overly lax'. Putting lax attitudes with genetic engineering genius into the same basket and shaking them around was a recipe that the people of Angosia III had tried before and S'Rorr's file recommended psyche evals at a 'heightened frequency'. But he seemed nice! S'Rorr was looking forward to getting Dasal on a tennis court.

Everyone greeted each other and Deyor spoke first.

Deyor: It’s a pleasure to finally meet you all. My name is Soria Deyor, I will be the doctor from the Cardassian exchange program working with you all.

Edrei: Hi, it's very nice to meet you! I'm Leenaya Edrei, Chief Medical Officer, but please call me Lee.

S'Rorr offered a customary short bow, his hands tucked neatly into the pockets of his blue coat.

S'Rorr: Excellent to meet you, I've read about some of your work! Stunning stuff. I'm Lieutenant S'Rorr, that's a bit much to pronounce so some find it easier to call me Rory.

Dasal: Response

Deyor: I don’t know how exactly I’ll fit in when it comes to military ranks around here, but I know you’ll be my boss.

She motioned to the chief, Dr. Edrei.

Edrei: Right. ::waving dismissively:: But I don't really care about ranks in Sickbay anyway, so don't worry about that.

Deyor: Who knows, maybe we'll be her servants.

S'Rorr couldn't help but issue a polite chuckle at the word choice of 'servants'.

Dasal: Response

Edrei: You're in for a wild ride, and S'Rorr is my partner in crime in scaring off the new docs.

Edrei gave him a look and S'Rorr understood the context. Deyor looked too nervous and a little humor might lighten the air.

S'Rorr: ::Jovial, exaggerated tone:: Ah, yes, we like to be fanned with palm fronds and expect frequent hot drink refills. We're very demanding about our dry cleaning and we expect nothing but peak excellence.

Dasal/Deyor: Response

S'Rorr: That's right~. If you last more than a month, you'll be ahead of the curve. Most doctors just can't handle my demanding grooming schedule.

Edrei grinned deviously.

Edrei: Oooh you're right, and the last one didn't stay too long either.

S'Rorr: ::nodding austerely:: Nine days.

Dasal/Deyor: Response

Edrei: ::chuckling:: Just to say, welcome to you both, we're happy to have you here ::beat:: and we're obviously joking.

S'Rorr: ::smiling:: We keep things pretty light when we can. Emergencies are infrequent, but we prepare for them, you'll mostly see stubbed toes and common colds, lots of extra time most days to spend on research. I think you'll both really like it here.

Dasal/Deyor: Response

The caitian doctor extended an arm invitingly through the doors into the Primary Sickbay on Deck 5.

S'Rorr: These friendly auto-doors have been diligently staying open this whole time for us. Let's go on through and get a look around. I haven't been here at all yet. Have you, Lee?

Edrei: Response

Dasal/Deyor: Response

The Main Sickbay Complex was tiny compared to a ground-based hospital but absolutely sprawling compared to many ship-based sickbays. They entered in onto a reception area where patients could be assessed quickly and sent to the appropriate place or wait in comfort on a padded bench for a bed to free up or a doctor to arrive. A nurse crewman would run a workstation there.

S'Rorr: Good morning, crewman!

Crewman: Response

S'Rorr: Just taking a little tour of the new work spaces.

Edrei/Dasal/Deyor: Response

S'Rorr: Let's take a look at proper medical areas first, then we'll swing around to the labs.

The colors of the Sickbay were soothing. Cream and brown, gold and a soothing blue. It's carpet was soft on the foot. To the left of that reception area would be the six medical beds, the surgical suite, the biohazard isolation room, and the medical transporters. The other direction would house all of the nonemergency facilities: the medical laboratories, the CMO's office, a the counselling suite quite near the entrance, and an access hatch to the unit that ran the Mark IV EMH.

S'Rorr and the other three doctors strolled calmly into the main floor with its six blue medical beds arranged along a curved wall, each bed recessed slightly to give a small amount of privacy (but primarily to give engineering more space to put vital monitors and other equipment, built into those alcoves). All of the beds were empty.

Edrei/Dasal/Deyor: Response

S'Rorr: I like how spacious it is. You could easily set up extra beds ::gesturing:: along this space in an emergency, if we needed to expand.

Edrei/Dasal/Deyor: Response

The six beds were joined by a single advanced biobed recessed in its own circular room. That bed had excess lighting, extra monitors, and extra space all around it. It had its own workstation where a crewman engineer then stood in Ops yellow, testing the functions and tinkering with energy inputs.

S'Rorr: The amount of power coming through here makes my whiskers tingle a little. Like being near the warp core or a conduit.

Edrei/Dasal/Deyor: Response
