((Oakheart Beach, Aelkuun))
After running into each other in the coffee shop, three Orion women headed down to the planet to find a place on the beach for a powerboard race. After their gear was beamed down, Maha looked over her board and figured out how to use it.
Tani: I see. Well, I guess the best way to learn is by doing. I’m ready, I guess.
Reine'X: Let's do a test run, girls. Just to the island and back. Take it easy, and slow the first time.
Zarax: Nice and easy, my green arse.
Maha was disappointed that Zarax had already gotten the hang of the board, but she was a pilot. That probably helped her figure out the controls quickly.
Tani: For some reason, I expected you to say that.
Standing on the board, Tani nearly fell off when it shot forward. This thing wasn’t a surfboard, nor was it really like anything she’d ridden before. Playing with the controls, it wasn’t long before Maha had found her pace, but was still far behind the other two women. Pulling up to the shore, Tani nodded at the other two before setting up for the real race.
Reine'X: Ready to do the race? Fastest one wins.
Turning to the crowd, Zarax signaled to them.
Zarax: Maybe one of them will signal the start?
Tani: We should ask.
Reine’X: Hey there, excuse me!::She waved in a friendly manner at one of them.:: Would you mind doing a quick countdown for us so we can start this race?
One of the guys approached, causing a smile from Maha. He wasn’t bad on the eyes.
Zarax: Ready.
Tani: Ready.
Reine’X: That will do! Perfect.:: She prepared her powerborad:: I'm ready too.
Dropping his hand to give the signal, the three women shot forward. After nearly losing her balance again, Tani adjusted her feet to provide better shock absorption.
Zarax: Watch out, Reine’X. You don’t want us eating your dust, remember?
Reine'X: Haha, we shall see...! :: she shouted over the noise from the waves, and poweeboards.
The bantar was fun, even if Maha couldn’t say anything. It was taking everything she had to just stay upright and within striking distance of the other two Orions. Suddenly, a large wave pushed Zarax out of position, threatening her lead.
Zarax: Response
Reine’X: The turn is coming now. Girls, be careful of the land!
Tani: If you’re not, you’ll get a vitamin sea overdose!
Maha followed the other two around the island, but she was leaning too far forward and nearly lost control of the powerboard. After a few tense seconds, she regained control. It was a fairly straight shot for the next part, so she crouched slightly and punched it.
Zarax: Response
Maha was still behind the other two, but taking the lead didn’t matter until the last few meters. A second behind wasn’t that large a gap. Yet, compared to the two athletes, it might as well have been an hour.
Zarax: Response
Throwing caution to the wind as they entered the final stretch, she stomped on the throttle while giving a battle cry that was said to honor one of Earth’s greatest heroes of the early 21st century.
Tani: Leeerrroyyy Jeenkiiiiinnnnsss!
Zarax / Reine’X: Response
Pushing the powerboard, Maha felt the tail starting to get a little loose, but she had to win. How else would she gain the respect of the other two Starfleet officers? She started to mumble to herself.
Tani: Don’t fall, don’t fall!
Zarax / Reine’X: Response
Maha’s eyes went wide when she noticed the beach coming up rather quickly. She knew if she didn’t slow down, she was going to bite it in the sand, but the desire to win was too strong.
Tani: Come on, you got this!
Zarax / Reine’X: Response
The beach came faster than expected when the front of Tani’s board caught a sand bar. The sudden stop sent her flying, giving her a faceful of sand and water as she slid across the surface, scratching her skin. When she finally came to a stop, she rolled onto her back, panting.
Tani: Did I win?
Zarax / Reine’X: Response
((Sorry for the delay, got really sick the last few days))
