Reine’X: Try to keep up. Are you ready to eat my dust? :: she smirked. ::

Reine’X had grown accustomed to using Earth idioms, even when they did not always fit the situation. After all, she had only picked them up during her visits to Earth and Earth Spacedock, rarely giving much thought to whether they actually made sense.

Jelanna smirked back, a quip already forming on her lips a fraction of a second later.

Zarax : Only if you’re planning to go over land, since there’s no dust on the water. But from what I hear, that would be bad news for you. So … :: she grinned wickedly again :: yeah, I’ll gladly eat your dus.

The remark earned an amused reaction from Reine’X. It was true, after all; the powerboard would stop functioning the moment it left the water.t.

Tani: I do have one question, Reine’X, and that’s, how do you even use a powerboard? I’ve never used one. There wasn’t much of a chance in New York City to use one, and Austin is rather far from the beach.

Reine'X: A powerboard is basically an anti-gravity surfboard. The repulsor jets keep it hovering just above the water and push you forward fast enough to skim the surface. So basically a surfboard, but without the need for waves. Lean slightly forward, and you’ll go faster. Lean to the side, and you’ll turn.... ::beat:: You’ll get the hang of it very soon.

Zarax : Response

Tani: I see. Well, I guess the best way to learn is by doing. I’m ready, I guess.

((OOC: “Now, where’s the W, A, D and space keys? And why do I need a rodent, again?” - you have to watch the video to get it 😀 ))

((OOC: 😂 It’s so much easier with a keyboard, right? 😂

Btw, I never quite figured out how a tribble is supposed to help increase your speed in reality; aside from boosting your DPS. It doesn't make sense lol))

Reine'X: Let's do a test run, girls. Just to the island and back. Take it easy, and slow the first time.

Zarax: Nice and easy, my green arse.

Reine’X was glad to see that Zarax had already gotten the hang of the board and was beginning to pick up speed. She looked graceful as she balanced atop it.

Tani : Response

Zarax was only slightly behind the taller Orion. Reine’X knew she would make for a worthy opponent, and that thought only made the race more exciting.

Reine’X had gained quite a lead, but since this was only a test run, it hardly mattered. Zarax was a quick study and was soon zipping across the water with confidence. She could not quite catch the taller Orion yet, but Reine’X knew that once the real race began, the other woman would give her a genuine challenge.

Tani : Response

They were now back at the shore.

Reine'X: Ready to do the race? Fastest one wins.

It was clear that the women were eager for the actual race to begin.

oO Is she checking out the guys over there..? Maybe the girls also? Oo

Reine'X wondered what Jelanna was up to.

Zarax turned to the other women, with a suggestion.

Zarax: Maybe one of them will signal the start?

Tani : Response

Reine’X: Hey there, excuse me!::She waved in a friendly manner at one of them.:: Would you mind doing a quick countdown for us so we can start this race?

One of the guys approached, and Jelanna turned toward him with what looked, to Reine’X, like a smile. He was certainly good-looking, she had to admit.

Zarax: Ready.

Tani : Response

Reine’X: That will do! Perfect.:: She prepared her powerborad:: I'm ready too.

The guy gave the signal, and they were off. Jelanna pulled ahead quickly, but it was clear her competitors were skilled as well. Especially Reine’X, who started off strong. However, there was still a long distance to cover, including a turn around the small island.

Zarax: Watch out, Reine’X. You don’t want us eating your dust, remember?

Reine'X: Haha, we shall see...! :: she shouted over the noise from the waves, and poweeboards.

As she said that, Zarax laughed and almost overtook Reine’X. Unfortunately, a surprisingly large wave (unexpected given how calm the water had been) caught them off guard. As Zarax tried to evade it, she lost her position.

oO Great move! I should watch out...perhaps I underestimated my opponents Oo

Reine’X thought, her competitive nature kicking in. She knew she had to win at all costs; it was in her blood...or her Klingon upbringing, she could not say which one. Either way, she was determined to come out on top.

Tani/ Zarax: Response

Reine’X: The turn is coming now. Girls, be careful of the land!

They were approaching a small stretch of land protruding from the water. Reine’X shifted her weight to the left as she rounded it from that side, bending her knees slightly and leaning back just a little. She did not want to come in too hot for the turn, or she might fall off the board. She executed a smooth 180-degree turn, but as she completed it, it felt as though someone was beginning to overtake her.

Tani/ Zarax: Response

Reine’X focused on her board, the water, and her own positioning. But even so, out of the corner of her eye, she could see people on the shore cheering them on.

oO I wonder who they are cheering on the most..Oo

Tani/ Zarax: Response

The final stretch of the race began. The green women on their powerboards were nearing the shore now.
