((Counselor Strathmore's Office, Deck 5, USS Valkyrie-A))
Janai had been talking with Counselor Strathmore for a while now, her questions and ponderings somewhat answered, somewhat multiplying.
Zol: Counselor, to be quite honest, this conversation has left me with a lot of thoughts, and I'd like to unpack them both by myself and with you, at a near date. Do you have any suggestions for what I should do in the meantime? Anything specific? Meditation, walks in the holodeck, journaling? I know it's a bit strange to ask, but I'm feeling a bit lost.
Strathmore: It’s not strange at all. They’re all great suggestions, but I always recommend journaling first and foremost.
She'd tried to take up journaling once, back at Trill. She reckoned she'd managed to write three or four days in a row, and then never again. But she'd been a teenager back then - she had more patience now, or at least she hoped so.
Zol: Why journaling specifically?
Strathmore: Because it provides an exceptional avenue for self-expression, self-analysis, and self-awareness. ::He held up his PADD:: I wouldn't ask you to do something I wouldn't do myself.
Counselor Strathmore chuckled, and Janai felt more at ease. He'd done well to make the conversation a pleasant one, even when it'd delved into difficult topics.
Zol: Then sure, I'll give it a try.
Strathmore: Do you mind if I give you some homework?
It'd been a little while since the Academy and homework. She kind of missed it - not spending hours doing it, not really, but certainly the regularity of it.
Zol: That'd be great, actually. What do you have in mind?
Strathmore: Response
Zol: I see. Then should we arrange another session in the future as well?
Strathmore: Response
Janai looked back to the Bajoran artifacts, arranged neatly. She'd love to take a closer look at them some day.
Zol: ::Points at the artifacts:: Which one is your favorite?
Strathmore: Response
She held out her hand, a smile on her face.
Zol: Thank you, Counselor. I'll do the homework, and I'll be happy to see you again. You've been a great help.
Strathmore: Response
Feeling lighter, Janai got up from her armchair, turned, and left the Counselor's office. She was still craving some more hot chocolate, and wanted to look for it.
