to USS Valkyrie-A – StarBase 118 Star Trek PBEM RPG

((Brew Continuum, Deck 7, USS Valkyrie))

Deck 7 offered so many opportunities to relax, eat, and socialize. It had a food court and a coffee lounge. For relaxation, there was an arboretum, spa and sauna, and even an onsen: a traditional hot spring from ancient Earth. There was also a hairdresser ; and Reine'X was painfully aware she should visit them soon. Alternatively, she could trim and color her hair herself, but what’s the fun in that?

She loved that she had picked her quarters on Deck 7, as everything was so close. On her way to the barber, she decided to stop for a steaming hot raktajino first; her second today, but no matter; she might just become more talkative after that.

As Reine'X entered the Brew Continuum, she noticed it had that typical Earth-style coffee place vibe. oOI hope they have raktajino.Oo But before she could move toward the counter to place her order , another woman, an Orion, entered as well. A fellow Orion! Finally! She was excited.

Reine'X knew that there were other Orion officers serving onboard, but she just hadn’t met them yet.

Reine'X: Hello there,:: she casually waved at the woman.

The second Orion had long, sleek black hair and blue eyes.

In that instance, Reine'X noticed another Orion female smiling at them. This woman, however, seemed to be a civilian; perhaps even better. It was always easier to socialize with civilians.

The woman was wearing a black lipstick, and what seemed to be a black dress.

Tani: Hello, I’m Maha Tani.

Reine'X: Hi, hello. I'm Reine'X.

Zarax: Response

Tani: Pleasure to meet you both. I was about to introduce myself to the other Orion officer over there. Would you care to join me?

Another one?! oOWow, this ship really seems packed with Orions.Oo

Reine'X was excited to finally meet all the Orions on the ship, simply because she hadn’t had much contact with her own species throughout her entire life. Growing up on Qo'noS, there weren’t many. Even the few there were living there, were usually not located in the First City but working on farms or in small villages on other continents.

And so she had so many questions for them! How was the Orion Homeworld..? what was the typical food like..? She had never visited it, which was surprising, given how many planets she had seen and how much she had traveled before joining Starfleet. And as far as she knew, there weren’t many Orions in Starfleet, so she hadn’t met any as a cadet. She had even met people connected with the Orion Syndicate, but that didn’t necessarily teach her much about her own culture. And then there was her uncle, of course...

Reine'X: The more the merrier,::beat:: as they say on Earth.

She had no idea what the equivalent saying would be in Orion, and felt a slight embarrassment at quoting Earth idioms. Not that she didn’t speak Orion; she did (though she probably had a different accent from the other women in the room, since her Orion came only from her parents teaching her). But some of the nuances of the language; idioms, and accents, if her parents hadn’t taught them to her, were things she had no way of knowing. Still, she thought the universal translator was handling most of that anyway.

Tani: Lovely.

Reine'x turned on her heels, and proceeded to follow Maha Tani.

Tani: Hello there, I’m Maha Tani, Federation News Service.

Vaysha:

Reine'X: And, I'm Reine'X.

Zarax: Response

Tani: Would you mind if we joined you and got to know each other?

Vaysha:

Reine'X: And while we all introduce ourselves, I’ll have that raktajino:: she said, as if anyone else in the room should have any idea that she was craving a Klingon coffee.

A server was just approaching them, so she nodded to him to place her order.

Zarax: Response

Tani: Lovely. I’m from the Bronx, New York City, Earth. What about the three of you?

Vaysha:

Reinex: I was born on Qo'noS.

Zarax /Tani / Vaysha:

Reine'X: And how did you all end up in Starfleet...? It’s not like there are a lot of us here...

The four women were now casually chatting when Reine'X finally got her much-craved raktajino. She enjoyed the first sip, then focused back on the conversation.
