((Counselor Strathmore's Office, Deck 5, USS Valkyrie-A))
Madeline
stood outside Strathmore's office and mentally braced herself to meet
Ensign Strathmore. She knew very little about him, and was honestly a
bit worried, but she had put things off long enough and forced herself
to press the button on his door, the ship happily chiming inside to let
him know she was there.
Strathmore: Response
Koyama: =/\= Ensign Koyama, for my appointment.=/\=
The door slid open shortly after and she stepped inside, trying her best to not show the trepidation at being there.
Arthur went to shake her hand, and Madeline reciprocated, trying to be formal.
Strathmore: Ensign Koyama, welcome to my hunk of hull.
He gestured to a chair across from his to sit in.
Koyama: ::sitting at the offered chair:: Sorry I'm late. The xenolab had a spill and it ended up being a big problem.
Strathmore: No need to apologize. Just another day in Starfleet, eh?
She sighed and sank into the chair.
Koyama: So...
how do we start? I mean, I'm sure you've got my record, and things have
been fine overall ::Lie:: - So hopefully this can be quick?
Strathmore: Our session can be as brief or as in depth as you want it to be. I’m just here to help.
Arthur grabbed his PADD and typed some early session notes.
Koyama: Honestly, not sure anyone can help. Things have been difficult. I'm not sleeping well.
Strathmore: I’m here to listen.
Koyama: ::Deep sigh:: Look, I just feel like, I don't know, I'm running out of options? Out of time? Maybe I'd be able to get somewhere if I wasn't an ensign, if I was in the fleet longer, had more connections, but it's dragging on me.
Strathmore: Feeling something is how you know you’re conscious and alive.
Arthur smiled.
Koyama: I'm not really telling you much am I?
Strathmore: Response
Koyama: Let me start from the beginning. Did you read my previous counselors notes? The parts about the colony I was raised on?
Strathmore: Response
Koyama: :: Looking away :: It's in trouble. All the sacrifices people have made might be for nothing if we can't find a solution for the atmospheric engine - ::she paused, realizing she got ahead of herself.
Strathmore: Response
Koyama: I'm sorry. It's - well it's the heart of the colony project, It uses an energy field to moderate temperatures and selectively filter gasses. Its one large platform in space, rather than the typical arrays you'd need to terraform a planet as hostile as Vuldaris... And it, and the colony are in trouble, and it feels like I'm the only one who can fix it.
Strathmore: Response
