Strathmore: What was that you said?
Charn: Whiskey double, kid. Means two drams of whiskey. ::He just a thumb in her direction:: With her size it'll be like me having half a bottle.
She was a little stunned with the Ensigns query. She knew he wasn't from Earth, but if he'd attended the Academy in San Francisco he likely would have been to some of the very same bars she frequented and surely he'd such a common expression, at least common to those environments.
To counter the stun, she gave a sly grin at Charn's comment. He clearly was underestimating her, a dangerous thing to do when it came to drinking.
Sherlock: You just might be surprised.
Strathmore: Synthehol?
Charn: Kid, believe me, no one is going to serve you anything more powerful than a water.
As the server brought over her glass filled from her "secret stash" that wasn't so secret, she picked it up and quickly down the double. Setting the glass back down, she signaled for another before the server could leave then turned to look at Strathmore.
Sherlock: It is absolutely the real thing. And you're more than welcome, ::beat:: it's on me.
Strathmore: No, I am more than satisfied. Thank you though.
Charn: But I'm not. ::Turning to Aine:: The kid called you here because I need to know what it is I am to do on this ::he made a show of looking around Valhalla, barely disguising a show of disdain:: fine vessel of yours. Doesn't look like you need any help, so do I just sit in the cargo hold all day and wait for people to toss me scraps?
Strathmore: No, Mister Charn.
Sherlock: I'm sure we can find something for you to do. And before that we'll get you quarters, don't worry.
Charn: Does it come with a cot, even? For little ol' Charn?
She believed this was his way of saying he never expected much from others, which was fair.
Sherlock: There's computer access, entertainment, food replicator and, I'm sure you'll love this, a big ol' bed with a mattress thicker than you've ever seen.
Strathmore: Well, I’m glad to have facilitated diplomacy. Is there anything else that is needed of me?
She slowly turned to look at Strathmore. The "kid" looked tired, and weren't they all.
Charn: Response
Sherlock: Not that I can think of. You can turn in if you'd like.
Strathmore: Aye, Commander.
Charn: Response
Strathmore: I hope to make more hasperat and then retire until my next shift.
Charn: Response
Sherlock: Of course, you might miss out on something interesting if you leave now.
Strathmore/Charn: response
She looked at the pair of them, giving a moment of thought.
Sherlock: Mister Charn seems to think he's going to get bored on a ship like this. I think he might like to learn about the holodeck. ::long pause:: But, if you need to go...
