Zol: Commander, this is perhaps a frivolous question. What's your favorite part of serving on the Valkyrie?
T'Ama: Well I’m sure it’s supposed to be the friends we made along the way, but now my job is to keep them in line and out of jail so… it’s probably my quarters. The first officer’s quarters are very nice.
Zol: I can imagine. I wouldn't know what to do with all that space.
Her Academy quarters had always felt enough for her, and she assumed her quarters as an Ensign wouldn't be much bigger. It suited her, this closeness.
The turbolift opened and, after a couple of officers emptied out, she and Commander T'Ama stepped in.
T’Ama: Deck 8.
As the turbolift whizzed up, the Commander turned to her.
T’Ama: So, how many hosts has Zol had?
Zol: Uh, just me. Zol's young.
T’Ama: So no lovers from a past life liable to turn up?
Zol: oO Some from my current one, maybe, should they ever make their way out here for some reason Oo ::Smiles:: No Commander, no such danger.
The turbolift doors opened, and Janai followed Commander T'Ama down the corridors and halls, trying to memorize the path they took for future reference. Soon, they reached the Chief Science Officer's office.
(( Chief Science Officer’s Office, Deck 8, USS Valkyrie-A ))
The door slid open.
T’Ama: Knock knock. I have your newest ensign fresh off the shuttle here. Ensign Janai Zol.
Janai followed as Commander T'Ama entered the room. From behind her desk a blonde woman rose, tall, with three pips on her uniform.
Ada: Janai, pleased to meet you. I'm Lieutenant Commander Azura Ada. ::She offered the woman a handshake:: Welcome to the Valkyrie! And you can call me Azura. Please...
Janai returned the handshake, then grabbed a seat, following the Commander's motion to do so.
Zol: It's great to meet you too, Commander - I mean Azura.
Janai watched Commander Ada's face. Of course Commander T'Ama was joking when she was talking about not angering the woman lest she explode, or worse. Of course. But a tiny little part of Janai's brain wanted to keep an eye out, just in case. She tried to see if Commander Ada wore a Sheng Emitter, and found it on her left shoulder. She felt foolish for being soothed at its sight.
T’Ama: ::grinning broadly:: I told her you were mean and yelled at me my first day.
Azura blinked, and cocked her head to the side, grinning back at T'Ama with ever so slightly gritted teeth.
Ada: I was, and I did sharply encourage you to take our dangerous mission seriously. Thank you, T'Ama.
She winked playfully and laughed it off.
Zol: You know each other a long time then, I see.
T'Ama: response
Ada: What are your specializations, Janai?
Zol: I graduated from the Academy with a history specialization, Commander. I know my basics in the necessary fields, but history - and archaeology - are my areas of expertise. My thesis paper was a history of the Vidiians.
Ada/T'Ama: Response
