(( Holodeck, Deck 7, USS Chin'toka ))
The "costume" Aine had chosen was the least offensive of the choices, in her mind anyways. A greyish long coat that when buttoned up was almost like a corset with a violet "dress" beneath. The only thing of real color was the gold sash, cravat, and hat band. And that hat...wide brimmed...very wide. It was huge!
Sherlock: I don't want to wear the hat.
Edrei: But it's part of the outfit! You can't just not wear it.
Sherlock: ::frustratingly:: Fine. ::she abruptly put on the large hat of the costume:: I'll wear the damn hat.
Edrei: That looks awesome. Thanks for playing the part! You'll see, it's gonna be so much fun.
Aine forced a smile back at Leenaya, half-heartedly. She never understood holodeck adventures. For her, the holodeck was a great training tool, but adventures? There was a whole galaxy of adventures out there. But, after her and Leenaya's chat she felt she owed it to the good Doctor when she was invited.
Sherlock: We shall see. I'm trusting you though.
When Leenaya led them into the holodeck the scene before them was something else. A beach on what appeared to be a tiny island. The palms almost comically typical of what one would think of when they thought of a desert isle. Old creaky docks and small wood buildings about.
Edrei: Sooooo, I maybe went deep into a rabbithole recently. Do you know about pirates?
Sherlock: Like old Earth pirates, I'm assuming? They lived on the outskirts. Lived by their own laws and rules. Shunned by society as much as they shunned it themselves. Took what they want when they wanted and lived free.
Maybe it was a bit of a romantic notion, but she'd of course read about pirates from the Age of Sail on Earth. At some point every kid dreamed of being one, sure. To live on a tropical island with no government to bug you or tell you what to do, sail the open seas in search of plunder and treasure.
Edrei: Yeah, you got the gist of it. So this is ::pointing to the end of the dock:: our ship, and we're basically free to do whatever we want with it. ::she started walking around, excited:: We can go on a treasure hunt for a bunch of gold, help the merchants and deliver some rhum to lonely people on some islands, fight some angry skeletons, or even just fight other people sailing the seas and steal their treasures. Whatever appeals to you the most.
Sherlock: I think ::beat:: I'm going to enjoy this.
A grin slid across Aine's face as her hand went up to the brim of her hat, giving it a slight tug she set it to a jaunty tilt. This wasn't a historical re-creation of the Age of Sail, this was a fantasy world. That romantic version of pirates. She could tell this was going to be adventures of their own without a British frigate trying to run them down.
She looked at their ship, anchored at the dock. Single masted and rough looking. A few barrels on the deck had canons painted on them. Just aft of the bowsprit, a harpoon gun on each side and behind them a cannon on each side.
Off into the horizon she could see small islands and the occasional sail and she started getting ideas. One of the islands had a column of smoke rising and something about it called to her. She pointed out towards it.
Sherlock: That's where we find our treasure.
Edrei: response
Sherlock: I'm sure of it. But...
Edrei: response
Sherlock: ...I need a cutlass.
