(( Near the port of Tseraiq, Qareluun, Aelkuun ))
They rematerialized in front of the cutest alien she had ever seen in her life. He was so nice brown!! And he had big brown eyes that were soooo cute, and little round ears, and whiskered snout, and the most adorable little webbed paws! Nelis suppressed a little squeak of glee.
V’Nille: Hello. Are you ::sounding out the name carefully:: S’Relaai?
S’Relaai: Yes. You are … V’Nille. These are the others you mentioned on the call?
He turned to LOOK at them!!
V’Nille: Yes. This is Isara Aleron. She is the captain of our ship. This is Reine’X, who works in our medical department. The one with the big backpack is Nelis Orla, who works in our operations department.
Nelis waved enthusiastically with a big grin when it was her turn to be introduced.
S’Relaai: I see you and greet you openly. Welcome to the city Tseraiq on the continent of Qareluun. I am S’Relaai, an envoy appointed by the K’tsérai. Pleased I am to show you our world.
V’Nille: Thank you. I am eager to learn more of the K’tsélai and your history.
Reine'X: Thank you, and it is a pleasure to meet you.
Aleron: We see you, and the pleasure is ours, S’Relaai.
Nelis was practically vibrating with excitement!!! Be cool, Nel! Be so cool. Be cool be cool be cool be cool…
Orla: HIIIIII!!!!!! I’m so excited to be here!!! This is. So. COOL! Is this the city?? ::turning and actually spotting the city and pointing:: Is THAT the city???
S’Relaai: We are outside of the city. Based on what V’Nille told me, I was not sure how this … “transporter” ::the word obviously unfamiliar to him:: technology would look so I suggested this place to be safe. It is not a long walk to the port. I apologize for the inconvenience.
V’Nille: That makes sense.
Reine’X: No inconvenience at all.
Aleron: Thank you, S’Relaai. We appreciate the assistance you’re offering.
Orla: It’s sooooooo not a problem!!
She wouldn’t want to scare ANY of the cute K’tsélai!!
They started their walk in to town and landscape was just as charming and delightful as Nelis had ever seen or could have hoped for. The sea to their left was a dazzling blue, the wind off it was refreshing. There were so many little sailboats and BIG sailboats out on the water! Even the buildings that were slowly growing larger as they walked were a riot of color that somehow did not clash. If any Betazoid tried to read her mind right now they would just hear a never ending high pitched squeal of delight.
S’Relaai: I am curious if there is anything you wish to see first?
Reine'X: Definitely the market, the city itself. Meeting and talking to more of your people, if that’s alright with you**.::** she smiled, and ever so slightly nodded her head**::** And then I’d like to try whatever you personally enjoy doing for fun. In your off hours, let’s say, when you’re not working. Any food, hobbies, or places you would like to share with us? ****
Aleron: I, for one, would love to visit a beach, but I’m not quite dressed for that. But that water looks amazing.
Orla: I want to visit a BAKERY!!!!!
She bounced up on the balls of her feet, hands clasped under her chin, eyes pleading with excitement.

V’Nille: Response
Aleron: I also think I would like to try some of the local cuisine. I am interested in what your people enjoy eating.
S’Relaai: Response
Orla: What about desserts? Sweet flavored things?
V’Nille: Responses
Aleron: That sounds like fun. Let’s do it.
Reine'X: I'm in too!
S’Relaai: Response
V’Nille: Response
Orla: Oh!!! I nearly forgot!!! I wanted to give you this!
S’Relaai/Aleron/V’Nille/Reine’X: Response
Nelis stopped dead in her tracks and swung off her backpack which thumped heavily to the ground. Unzipping the top revealed that it was full to the bring of little brown paper sleeves folded over at the top. Totally biodegradable!
She pulled one out and offered it to S’Relaai with both hands, bowing her head.
Orla: This is for you! It’s a cookie!
Inside the sleeve was a single, perfectly round cookie.
S’Relaai: Response
Aleron/V’Nille/Reine’X: Response
Orla: It’s one of those baked desserts I was talking about! My people got the recipe and started making them after… ::smile faltering:: after… after we met humans! ::smile right back to full brightness::
Halfway through her explanation it occurred to Nelis that maybe, just maybe, the story of How Humans Brought Death Back To Gideon (And Caused The Apocalypse But Also That’s Okay, Question Mark?) was not an appropriate story to be telling the K’tsélai. It was a complicated topic.
