(( Main Sickbay Complex, Deck 5, USS Valkyrie-A ))
Here Soria was, in the sickbay of a Starfleet vessel. If her family could see her now they’d probably ditch all disruptors and reach for the ancient Cardassian punishment of stones and throw them at her. But there in the sickbay she defiantly stood, the shame still bubbling inside of her.
She made it however, she was a doctor, the career path she always wanted to follow. It was a little ironic to her however, more often than not it was doctors who longed to be dancers. But she was always a little different compared to the other Cardassians around her. And now she was very different to the other species around her, the only Cardassian she knew of on the ship. Soria didn’t mind, but it was a little awkward walking around a ship not in uniform and very visibly not a member of the Federation.
As she was alone in the sickbay she walked around the facility to observe the tools for her. They weren’t that different from the tools on Cardassia, but they were definitely more advanced than the tools from the academy on Earth. But she didn’t like the computers, she missed the familiar shapes of triangles and ellipses that Cardassian computers used and not the frankly ugly to her rectangles that Federation ones employed.
While she looked at the computer and mentally critiqued the display she heard the door swoosh open. She turned around to meet her new coworkers, the Starfleet officers.
Deyor: It’s a pleasure to finally meet you all. My name is Soria Deyor, I will be the doctor from the Cardassian exchange program working with you all.
She politely nodded to the group.
Edrei/Dasal/S’Rorr: Response
Deyor: I don’t know how exactly I’ll fit in when it comes to military ranks around here, but I know you’ll be my boss.
She motioned to Dr. Edrei then glanced at the other doctors in front of her. In Cardassia, if she was being honest, the idea that she could possibly be ranked below two men was almost seen as a joke. But this was the Federation, where men weren’t all expected to go to war and women expected to be the better academics. Otherwise those sensitivity classes she took would go to waste.
Edrei: Response
Deyor: Who knows, maybe we'll be her servants.
Soria gave an awkard smile to S'Rorr and Dasal as she employed humor that was suggested by her Federation socialization guide. She then immediately dropped the smile and made a mental note to never tell a joke again. There was a reason she was a dancer and not a comedian.
