((USS Magni, Selene, Solace System))

Poking and prodding, the Federation’s officers' questions felt like needling in a way that made her wonder if they could handle the truth. Her next answer was truthful but still vague, intentionally allowing the wording to lead them to their own conclusions. A direct admission would come when she felt they were ready to handle the truth.

Raeyen IV: …I don’t remember much else of the time, I’d been infected... ::taking a moment:: ...and one of the first casualties.

Tam: I'm happy they were able to save you and that we were able to meet.

Nera: Thank you for sharing that. I can’t have been easy to talk about.

Raeyen stared at them all confused by the warm smiles and what felt like pity. Uncomfortably, she shifted, brows slightly skewed as her expression clearly relayed its not that deep. Looking back to the map she just shook her head, studying the technology they used.

Raeyen IV: It’s not that difficult.

Tam: Are the experiments ongoing?

Nera: With most of the scientists and doctors taken away by the military team? It’d be difficult.

A more practical question she was fine with answering.

Raeyen IV: None of the medical ones. They relegate zoological ones to breeding, tracking, and understanding how they’re adapting to Selene ::She paused:: There is also a culinary researcher and nutritionist that is still around.

Once again she’d glance back at what DeVeau was doing, now suspecting that if there was anyone who might uncover the truth, it’d be her or the doctor. When she looked back to Nera, his soft features, his concern, it was too much. Then there was the dark eyed Divya, who despite size was proving to be a more gentle warrior. Could one of them at least be a little hostile?

DeVeau: You’re safe here, Raeyen.

oO Stoooooop it. Oo

Death by a thousand cuts. The needles of kindness that unnerved her from outsiders that caused her entire worldview to turn on its head.

Tam: Do you have other villages? This one doesn't seem to be running at full capacity.

Nera: Not even half capacity. Excursions in the local area maybe?

DeVeau: I suppose with a disease like the one you mentioned, it can take a long time for a population to recover.

Did she know? Raeyen shot a side eye towards Alora trying to discern what she’d had found. Again she chose to answer vaguely.

Raeyen IV: We get by, there's outposts scattered, but one village of our making.

Tam: I had been worried about how you would react to encountering a group with a variety of species. People from insulated populations can find Starfleet's diversity jarring at first.

Gritting her teeth, Raeyen debated how to respond to that sentiment, where she had been capable of adapting, there were those she wasn’t sure about.

DeVeau: Though we do like to make contact with those we’ve never met before.

Nera: So am I. Meeting new people and experiencing the culture is, as you might have guessed, a bit of a hallmark of us Starfleet types.

Raeyen IV: I work security, encountering the unknown is part of the job, and this is a scientist outpost… you’ve found the more open-minded population of Nova Terra.

Nera: Have you had the chance to meet many other races before?

DeVeau: Although we’re explorers, this region is new to us.  So any peoples in this area of space would be new to us.

Raeyen shook her head. She was sure the space program had the chance to meet those of other species but she was also certain the government kept the information of spacefaring species fairly limited. The public could only handle so much.

Raeyen IV: No, we don’t tend to get guests. ::motions to the scanners:: Most overlook Selene.

Tam: Response

Nera: Well, hopefully they’re every bit as friendly and welcoming as you’ve been ::smirking::

Sarcasm. Nera was lucky he had such a pleasant face. Charm and tone only carried the pretty ones through life without getting killed. Either from people’s dismissal or because someone thought his face was worth keeping pristine..

Raeyen IV: …Most are not security.

Tam: Response

Nera: Anything more we should know before we land? ::pausing:: Oh, does the settlement have a name?

DeVeau: Before we land, we need to get off the ground first.

Raeyen heard their questions and banter and opted to ignore it. Instead, she was trying to study the systems they were actively employing. Their technology was beyond what anyone on Nova Terra and Selene had ever known. A pity she wasn’t an engineer or even a serviceable mechanic.

DeVeau: But let’s take care of that now.  Raeyen, if this is your settlement, we’ll  head over there and land close, but not too close.

Raeyen IV: It used to be called Gemini Outpost… but we just call it Gem.

Ay/Tam: Response

The scientist, Alora, turned and moved back to her research in the back as they took off. Raeyen felt another surge of paranoia, had she discovered something else she needed to observe?

DeVeau: Like Ay asked, if there are specific customs we need to be aware of, that would be good to know.

Raeyen IV: Don’t stare.

A short answer that didn’t give them a lot.

Raeyen IV: Ask before you touch any of the animals.

Ay/Tam: Response

What would have been a minimum thirty minute drive in one of the ground vehicles from her outpost back to Gem turned into a less than five minute flight. Because the other team had taken the fuel, the outpost was unable to use its space vehicles. Not that they were to be used for low atmosphere travel because of the disruption to the environment it could cause.

DeVeau: We’re close, so only a minute or two.  These things go fast.

Ay/Tam: Response

Raeyen IV: I am envious of this speed.

Standing up from her seat, Raeyen now prepared herself, checking what gear she did have on herself. While she’d lost her gun and radio, she still had her verification. Rolling up her sleeve, Raeyen revealed a Roman numeral IV tattoo, which she appeared ready to put on display.

DeVeau/Ay/Tam: Response

Raeyen IV: Expect security to meet up, weapons pointed down but on the ready, showing them this will verify my identity and allow us to pass.

As the shuttle door opened, a small contingent of security was present to greet them. Guns aimed at the ground and two figures standing towards the front.

One a nervous-looking scientist that fidgeted in place. His lab coat torn and stained, he wore a slightly cracked facial shield with a collection of data running along the side of the screen.

The other looked identical to Raeyen IV.

Raeyen IV: …What the f- GREG!?

Rage and confusion brought her to nearly leap from the shuttle. Snatching Greg up by the collar of his lab coat she gave him a  quick rattle.

Raeyen IV: My heart stops for less than a minute and YOU ACTIVATED FIVE?!

Greg: …Ah, I thought… I’msosorryRaeyen.

Raeyen V: Are we in trouble? ::Lookin to Raeyen IV then to the crew:: Hello!

Unlike Raeyen IV the dark haired woman smiled brightly, lifted her hand and waved child-like to the three.

Ay/DeVeau/Tam: Response

((OOC: Feel free for anyone to take Greg up as a general NPC.))
