((Deck 5 Corridor, USS Thor))
DeVeau: Divya!
Alora raised one hand and waved at the Barzan with whom she had spent the entirety of the previous mission alongside Ay down on the beautiful moon Selene. There, they had discovered a fantasy world, but with an unexpected darkness in its story. Thankfully, everyone from the moon had been rescued and treated, but some of their recoveries were slow. From what Sevantha, she, and medical personnel could tell, there was a strange almost symbiotic relationship between the moon and the people that inhabited it. Hopefully, once they were back on Selene, they would make a full recovery.
Since her return to the Thor, Alora had been neck deep in her own reports as well as study over the samples brought back from the moon. Realising she needed a break, Alora elected to spend the day with Shyla. They had just emerged from their quarters when she saw Divya passing by. Although Alora thought about going to the Arboretum, and had the dream position of quarters that were not only adjacent, but had a door just outside her own to step into whenever she chose. It meant she went without a window, but Alora didn’t care.
However, she decided the Arboretum would be the last stop of the day, and since they hadn’t eaten yet, instead of doing so in their quarters, she was going to take Shyla to breakfast in the mess. Upon seeing the Barzan, she got an idea.
DeVeau: Where are you off to?
Tam: Response
DeVeau: Have you eaten Yet? We’re going to go all the way down to the main mess hall to eat. Thought it would be a nice change of pace.
The other half of the ‘we’ was currently using Alora’s arm as a seat. The toddler’s very dark, very Betazoid eyes stared at the tall Barzan, taking everything in, even the strange lady to whom her mommy was talking. In one fist, she clutched a plush that looked like a cross between a tribble and a cat and clad in a red Starfleet uniform. In the other, she clung to a plush of the USS Independence. Both were held against her chest, taking places of honour against her heart as she continued to stare at Divya.
Before the Barzan could answer, Alora’s attention shifted to something else - or rather someone else. Another person had appeared in the hallway, someone Alora didn’t recognise. Since the entire crew was new to the ship, that wasn’t unusual, and it only presented an opportunity in Alora’s eyes. Her free hand lifted again, that time to wave to the newest arrival.
DeVeau: Good morning!
Meris/Tam: Response
J’naii were not specifically aligned with the Federation, remaining a neutral party in general, but she had seen several of their people come through as officers over the last half decade. It pleased her to see yet another join the ranks.
DeVeau: I don’t think we’ve had the pleasure of meeting yet. I’m Alora. This is Shyla. By that time, the toddler’s attention had already moved on to the latest person to join the group, and Meris was awarded with the same stare she had given Divya.
Meris/Tam: Response
DeVeau: Shyla and I were about to head to the main mess hall for breakfast. Both of you are welcome to join us.
While Alora could have more easily fed her daughter in her quarters, it was just nice to get out. It wasn’t just good for her, it was good for her daughter not to remain so cooped up.
Meris/Tam: Response
