OOC Unfortunately, we're not allowed to use the likenesses of Trek canon characters, even when they only appear as holograms! No harm, no foul, though, and I've changed the appearance of the Dr. Crusher hologram in a way that I think makes sense with the progression of the sim.

De Scheppes: Let's isolate those systems you mentioned, leave these two to sort out the appearance of our space whale's avatar before we begin speaking to the real thing.

Perhaps in response to Brodie's response, the hologram began to speak. It was odd, Dime thought, to see a Starfleet officer speaking as though she had never done so before.

Holo: Hungryyyy…I'm so hungry…

Kel: Well we know it has some unmet physical needs. (to the holo) What can we get you?

Holo: Let meee (beat) be meee.

What on (or off) Earth did that mean? However, Dime didn't have to wait long before she had more than an inkling: The holo of the Starfleet officer began to distort and morph, as if something inside was actively reshaping it.

De Scheppes: Does the creature have access to its appearance?

But that was a silly question, she realized. Of course it did, and she had the proof right before her eyes. The question was, should it have access to those controls? And if it shouldn't, what did it mean that it clearly did?

De Scheppes: Let's wait it out, at least for the moment, and see what form it settles on.

Many slow moments passed, as the holo continued to change and shift, never settling on one form for longer than a second. At last, though, something appeared from the chaos -- a species that Dime knew about, but had never seen in person. Not that she was seeing them in person now, either -- but it was an interesting choice, she had to admit, and one that made a certain amount of sense with the analogies they'd been using.

De Scheppes: (muttering to the others) It seems to have settled on the shape of a Xindi-Aquatic.
