“Pulling Back The Veil: Part IV”

((Outskirts of Kiessa Monastery, Bajor))

Alieth had never been afraid of physical activity. Although it was not her main pastime, her physical form was adequate, and she was better fit than most humanoids due to the superior Vulcan genetics and her exquisite control over her bodily functions.

What she hadn't estimated was the practice of this physical activity in an environment with an atmospheric humidity over 20%, which was manifestly invulcane.

Alieth: How long do we still have to walk?

Despite all her efforts, instead of her usual stern voice, Alieth spoke in a breathless gasp.

Brodie: Just over this next rise I think...and then another after that...another hour maybe?

Sweat trickled down her brow as she walked Kalib was ahead of her, and she watched as he stepped glancing every so often in the surrounding surroundings. Taking a deep breath, her heart beating a little faster than normal. She was not really unfit but this required long haul stamina something space didn’t really require.

Dar: Another hour, roger...Kalib you ok?

He was quiet for a moment. As he continued following Brodie and Alieth. He had not slept well again the previous night and felt a little fuzzy. He heard his mother call and for a moment didn’t answer.

Dar: Kalib!

Kalib: Yes mom, just getting hot. I forgot how hot it can get in the mountains in the day.

The Vulcan frowned slightly and glanced at the boy. Though her face retained its usual severity there was concern in her eyes. And a good deal of tiredness

Alieth: I could definitely welcome a break,in fact, you would benefit from one too. ::Looking around:: I dare say everybody would.

Brodie: I’m fine to take a rest...but I’m equally okay to keep going. ::Opening his canteen and taking a drink:: Ah, nothing like water from an ice cold spring.

Alieth: Certainly I would rather have a tea

Despite this, she took the offered canteen and gave it a little sip.

Dar: :: Chuckled:: I would kill for some fresh Jumja juice right now.

She pulled her own Canteen out and took a deep swig, moving close to Kalibs side and offering it to him.

Kalib: :: Took the Canteen. :: Thanks mom...Why are we going up the mountain.

Alieth: Mister Brodie decided to share with us a place of particular interest, although its presence in such a desolate area is... peculiar.

Dar: It's a good place agreed, we need to help you get better and I think this will help Alieth and Brodie achieve that.

Alex took another drink - it really was refreshing.

Brodie: We’re here to help Kalib...especially Alieth. No-one has a better understanding of what happened or what you experienced.

Alieth: (with a stern nod) Indeed.

As they continued in silence up the mountain and through some wooded forestry patch, Dar peered up into the treeline, the sun flickered through the leaves as they rustled in the breeze. She could hear birds chirping in the distance and some animal call to another as they continued to walk.

Dar: We should be nearing our destination?

Brodie: I think so - it should be just up ahead....

They moved out into the clearing and Brodie wandered forwards and stood right in the middle of the open space. He put his pack on a rock and poured some water into a cup, setting it to one side.

Alieth: Is this the location? ::Looking around:: It looks... trivial.

Dar looked around the clearing, Kalib walked ahead and was taking in the site. The air was crisper up here.

Dar: I am sure there is a reason this spot was chose.

Brodie: A little known piece of history, so the legend tells it...this is where an orb fell to Bajor.
