((USS Odin - Crew Cockpit))

Sasch was leading them in one final passenger run. Both in piloting the Odin, and being in charge of the team.

Nova Terra was a beautiful place, Tito nodded and looked outside again.

Tito: Maybe we can visit? It’s my first time down, I was on the team that beamed to New Gaia.

Kreshkova:  Da.  I zhink ve should.  ::Glancing back at their two visitors quickly before turning back to the viewscreen, Sasch asked…:: Do eizher of you haf suggestions as to vhere ve might get some food and maybe friendly conversation about zhe area?

Viola:  Yeah.  There’s a tavern in town.  There’s always a lot of people in there. Many will be willing to talk to primary humans.  ::She cast a wary glance at Naledi.  She had never seen a life-size insect before their trip back to Nova Terra.::  It’s near the river on the south side.

Henry:  Or there’s the hotel on the other side of the river.  It has a really nice restaurant, but you’re more likely to engage someone in conversation at the tavern.  ::Turning to the other human Lieutenant:: I’ve never been to New Gaia.  What was your trip there like?

Tito tipped his head and smiled at Sasch, giving her one of his expressions, almost an eyeroll.

Tito: It could have gone better. They have an interesting concept of society… ::he didn’t want to share too much with strangers onboard, so he turned to the other Lieutenant.:: Lieutenant Naledi have you stayed on board or were you with any of teh teams?

Naledi:  Hiss Snap Crack Pop Twinge

Tito raised an eyebrow. It was the first time he ever heard that.

Kreshkova: Lieutenant?   I’m sorry, I didn’t understand you.

Voila shifted in her seat, but Henry turned to face the insectoid.

Henry: So that’s what you sound like without a translator?

Naledi tapped their commbadge.

Naledi: Hiss Snap Crack Pop Twinge Clank Snap… My Apologies, Lieutenant. Universal Translation needed to speak. My species undergoes hibernation annually. I just woke up a few hours ago.

Kreshkova:  I always feel groggy after a long nap, I can’t imagine vhat it’s like coming out of hibernation.

Henry: Fascinating.

Tito noticed Viola hitting Henry on the arm and he simply smiled.

Tito: No problem Lieutenant, completely understandable.

Naledi: Snap Pop Crick Hiss… It’s alright. It only lasts for a week, and I don’t require sleep for the remainder of the year. My species is able to survive on short power-naps until our time comes, but we remain fully aware in that time. An evolutionary mechanism related to our reduced lifespan.

Tito nodded as Sasch hovered the shuttle to what appears to be their landing site.

((Nova Terra, Outskirts of Hudson))

Now landed Sasch finished the procedures and stood up.

Kreshkova:  Vhile I’m sorry ve had to meet under zhese circumstances, I’m glad I got a chance to meet you bozh.

Viola:  It was nice to meet you, Lieutenant Kreshkova, and you, Lieutenant Tito.

Tito nodded and noticed that Viola didn’t say goodbye to Naledi, although she nodded at them. Henry was a little more polite.

Henry: ::To Naledi:: Forgive my friend.  She’s not used to anyone who isn’t human, but I’m pleased to have met you. ::To all of those in uniform:: All of you! But you’ll forgive me if I want to get back to my wife and my daughter!  ::To Kreshkova:: Is it okay if we go?

Tito offered a polite answer as well.

Tito: We understand.

Kreshkova: Of course.  You are bozh free to go.

Sach walked the two of them over to the door of the shuttle and opened it for them.  Henry and Viola quickly took off toward the town.  Henry waved over his shoulder, but Viola kept on walking.

Tito: Interesting pair.

Naledi: Response

Kreshkova:  So of zhe two locations zhat they mentioned, zhe tavern seems like zhe best place to strike a conversation, get some food, and maybe some intel at zhe same time… Unless eizher of you haf ozher zhoughts.

Tito noticed a sort of hesitation as Sasch took in a short breath, puffed it out, and tried to smile.
He was going to say that after Viola goodbye to Naledi that might not be the best place to start, but he wasn’t going to question Sasch instructions on her first away mission. And truth be told it was a good start.

Tito: You know these people better than us, and you are the team leader. I agree.

Naledi:  Response

Kreshkova:  ::Sasch started to a side locker as she spoke.::After our last encounter here, I suggest zhat ve take sidearms vizh us.  Zhough, it should go vizhout saying, zhey stay on stun unless ozhervise ordered.

Sasch inputted her code, opened it, and handed out a phaser to each of the others.
Tito took his and holstered it as he smiled.

Tito: Better safe than sorry, and understood Lieutenant Kreshkova.

Naledi: Response

Tito: Do we have any specific leads to follow, or are we just searching for clues?

Kreshkova/Naledi: Response

Tito: And how did we get that information?

Kreshkova/Naledi: Response

Tito nodded and took his tricorder, opening it.

Tito: I assume I can get some scans as we go?

Kreshkova/Naledi: Response
