((USS Thor, deck 10, Main Sickbay))

Taj’el found shore leave preferable, primarily due to the relative absence of chaotic situations. The preceding two experiences, if the holodeck could be classified as missions, had proven excessively disordered for their preference, as they favored structure and predictability.

This period typically afforded them the opportunity to focus on their own projects. However, they had received a request from Lieutenant Vitor Tito for a physical examination. It was the first instance in which they had been personally requested in this manner, and they considered that their bedside manner had not left the strongest impression, particularly when compared to Doctor Ay, whose demeanor was notably more a child in personality.

Reviewing the Lieutenant’s file, Taj’el searched for any relevant details while awaiting his arrival. As the sickbay doors opened with their characteristic whoosh, they looked up. They recalled having encountered him previously during the awards event when the Chief Science Officer had caused those in blue uniforms to dance.

Tito: Doctor Taj'el, it is good to see you again. I hope I am not disturbing your shore leave but I believe I am due a physical.

Taj'el: There is no disturbance at all. I prefer to work, even during leave. Please have a seat on the biobed.

Giving him space, Taj’el reached for their medical gloves, donning them as a precaution. Most patients did not exhibit strong emotional responses during routine examinations in sickbay; however, recent irregularities had prompted a degree of caution. It was the unexpected abnormalities, not standard behavior, that warranted their attention.

Tito: Thank you Doctor. At least this time we aren’t expected to dance…

They paused briefly and looked back at him, an eyebrow slightly raised. The shorter Vulcan then exhaled softly in a restrained sigh.

Taj'el: That was certainly a fascinating interaction. However, I may have you move about slightly, depending on your condition.

An attempt at humor or simply a statement of fact, remained unclear.

Tito: As you can see from the records my last one was still at Starbase 118. There have been no significant changes in my physical form. I keep exercising, roughly at the same workout schedule. And remain abstinent, without any relapses from my former addiction problem. ::He tried to remember if there was anything else he had forgotten.:: I think that’s about it.

Reviewing the records, Taj’el noted that the encounter had occurred some time prior, and that the patient had since participated in a mission. This prompted a soft, contemplative sound as they set down their PADD and retrieved their medical tricorder.

Taj'el: What caused the delay?

Tito: response

Taj’el: It is a professional inquiry, I assure you. That stated, you were assigned to an away mission, correct? To Aleph-1, if I recall accurately?

They inquired while reviewing the tricorder’s readouts. Based on their findings, the Lieutenant appeared to be in stable condition; given his history, there were no indications of injury or complications—such as any form of toxin exposure or analogous concern.

Tito: response

Taj’el: Was there anything of note during that mission?

Looking up at the taller man, Taj’el found themselves curious about his scientific specialty. It had been some time since they had interacted with a science officer, and even longer since they had engaged in scientific discussion outside of a strictly medical context.

Tito: response
