The fact that the Klingons had accepted her plan to detonate the warp core surprised no one more than the person who suggested the plan. To say that it was the only possible solution was wildly inaccurate. It was simply the only solution she had come up with. That alone was enough to worry about her, but there was no time. They had an explosion to escape.

Saa: Ten seconds…

Taj’el: Adjusted and ready…

Saa: Five seconds…

She gave the nod to move the ship and watched as bird-of-prey faded in the distance.  Before it was out of sight, a red flare ignited under the ship. A swell of nervous energy bubbled up in Divya's chest. She exhaled all the breath she held to keep from shaking and worked with the computer to calculate the shape of the shock wave.

The Klingon ship moved just before the detonation, but Divya did not have time to celebrate. Her calculations for their path had to be precise. Riding the edge of the explosion was difficult, but telling someone how to ride it in real time was a bigger challenge than she expected today. When they were clear of the Badlands, she would have Taj'el take them to the place where the Klingon ship would be crawling along at impulse power.

Her thoughts were cut off by the bridge disappearing. The console she was focused on was gone, and her hands fell through the spot it had occupied. All that remained were stark black walls and colorful grid patterns. The suddenness of the change disoriented her. Lost, she spun around looking at her crewmates.

Taj’el: What happened? Did we fail?

Tam: Did they make it?

Saa: Sometimes, we do not get to see the result of our actions and interventions. ::She scooped up her PADD and folded it up against her chest:: We just have to trust that we gave them more of a chance than they previously had and hope it made a difference.

Tam: That's all we get?

Taj’el: What… an unusual conclusion to an already unusual simulation.

The commander stood in front of them, unaffected by the lurch in Divya's chest. How was she to learn of the fate of the people she worked to save? How was she to simply let go of such an unfinished climax?

The others left the holodeck, but Divya stayed behind. When she was alone, she stared at the offensive walls for a moment.

Tam: Computer, start program.

Nothing happened.

Tam: Computer, restart the last program.

Nothing happened.

Tam: Computer, pick up where you left off in the last program.

Again, nothing happened, and Divya huffed. It was unfair. She knew she needed to let it go, but telling her mind to behave rarely worked. She huffed again at the nothingness surrounding her.

Tam: Fine. I'm going to the gym.

Before she could move, a replica of the Thor's gym formed around her. A wave of warmth spread throughout her chest and erupted out of her mouth.

Tam: Oh no, Holodeck! Not a chance. You and I are no longer on speaking terms.

The Chief of Operations stomped out of the room, grumbling about missing doors that one could actually slam.
