It wasn’t so much that quiet reigned, but the absence of the bellowing, screaching, and hissing faded into oblivion, either because the creatures had been beamed over to the Thor or because they had moved far enough away that they could no longer be heard.
Once again, Promontory’s eyes were glued to the PADD as he seemed to puzzle through what was happening. Unfortunately he looked unsettled, which led to Sasch blurting out…
Kreshkova: Oh, please don’t tell me it’s going to whisk us avay to anyplace else. Or vorse... leave us here.
Meris: The Commander is right. I am not certain which of those outcomes would be worse.
Sasch folded her arms as she watched Promontory. Her eyebrows drew together as she leaned slightly forward waiting for an answer.
Promontory: Commander, ready to call it a day and end this program?
Sasch let out a loud exhale and a playful smile quirked onto her face.
Kreshkova: Maaaybe?
Promontory: Good enough for me!
Meris: I am certainly ready if that tips the scales at all…
Upon hearing Promontory’s response, Sasch couldn’t contain herself. Her arms fell to her sides. Her head tipped back as she said…
Kreshkova: Oh, zhank goodness!
And just as quickly as the setting had appeared, it evaporated into its black background with a gold grid. Off to one end of the room, the familiar archway separating fact from fiction, stood ready to allow them their exit.
Meris: I believe I would like a shower... and possibly a very strong cup of coffee. In that order.
Meris: That is... assuming we're dismissed, Captain Kreshkova?
Kreshkova: Yes, dismissed, but only because I get to come, too!
