(( Spooky Hotel of Infinite Corridors, Set of Scooby-Due Process, Studio 1, USPS Showrunner ))
From the all-seeing perspective of the hidden director’s shroud M217BS observed how his new cast members had performed.
He was… uninspired.
Oh, their on-screen chemistry was good—he had been right about that. But there was something that was missing, a certain je ne sais quoi that would elevate what he was seeing to art.
A few minor adjustments during the pilot was standard practice. M217BS grabbed the toner knob and made an adjustment, a smidge up on the dark and gritty v light and whimsical scale.
Monster (really □□□□□□□□ in a rubber mask) took their cue to leave off the chase scene and let the players cook a little more.
M217BS watched a little more of the show and pondered what to do next.
Tito: Let’s get back, I have a feeling this Monster is related to the dead person.
Taj’el: I… concur. However, it did possess sharp scythe-like arms. Would it not have simply caused lacerations to the victim rather than strangulation?
Tito: Looks like we've got a mystery on our hands
The pointy-eared one took a few notes. Good, that was grounded, believable.
In-character.
Taj’el: I would have said we have a hostile alien, but I suppose it is also part of the mystery.
Kreshkova: Response
Paws: Rhime rungry!
M217BS wasn’t sold on the dog. Maybe they should lose it all together. Maybe replace it with a smaller, more scrappy version. He should do some audience testing.
Tito: Where did you come from? I thought you had stayed put?
The dog entered into an elaborate pantomime of rubbing its starving belly, searching for food, not finding any, but finding something else.
Paws: Rhen rats rhy rhi round roo rguys!
Hmm. M217BS reconsidered. This dog had some serious chops.
Taj’el: Wait... I require clarification. What does this have to do with the alien and the deceased body?
Kreshkova Response
Tito: Timmy fell down a well? Who is Timmy?
Paws: Re run in re rell!
Taj’el: So now we must save Timmy?
M217BS prepped a scene chance. If this didn’t pick up, he’d prepare something even more drastic.
Taj’el: A fall can be fatal. However, if there is still water present within the well structure, the primary risk would shift to drowning. That outcome would depend on the specific design of the well and the depth of the water reservoir.
Kreshkova: Response
(( Crime Scene-Outside, Studio 1, USPS Showrunner ))
The standard scene was set—dilapidated ancient infrastructure and something called a ‘well’ which looked to M217BS to be a stone cylinder probably used in some ancient civilization’s perverted fertility rites or something. That’s what these sort of things always ended up being. He’d get his dramaturg on it.
The CSI team was already doing its thing as the trio (plus dog) approached. M217BS made sure to get a lot of establishing shots of the victim being pulled from the well and other bits of evidence. *foof* *foof* *foof* They'd make them B&W stills in post.
Officer: Detectives, Doctor, you made it. One victim. Eighteen-year-old Caucasian male. Presumed cause of death: drowning.
Taj’el: Actually… there is no water in the lungs, and, much like the other victim, there is bruising around the neck region.
Kreshkova/Tito: Response
Ah, the pointy ears was their ME as well. OK, good. Finding their grooves. M217BS could work with that. He made his own notes as Taj’el examined the corpse.
Taj’el: This implies he fought his attacker, but I am uncertain about the significance of the paint. A proper laboratory, or a tricorder, would be required for definitive analysis.
M217BS prepped the autopsy set, just in case.
Kreshkova/Tito: Response
Taj’el: It appears a rope was used to lower or dispose of the body into the well. That would account for post-mortem cervical trauma, consistent with a fall after death rather than a fatal injury sustained prior to placement. The victim was likely deceased before entry into the well. ::pause:: What is your assessment, detectives?
Kreshkova/Tito: Response
M217BS canceled the autopsy room and (re)prepped various hotel scenes.
Paws: Re need to rit up and rook for rues!
Kreshkova/ Tito/ Taj’el: Response
Paws: Rats rhat rhi red!
Kreshkova/ Tito/ Taj’el: Response
Paws: Rand a rack!
Kreshkova/ Tito/ Taj’el: Response
M217BS cued up Old Man Jenkins, Smithers, and Wickles for their walk-ons. That ought to keep them guessing.
