((Conference Room, Deck 13, USS Thor))
Caras was the first one in the conference room. He always liked being early and with his current position, he made sure he at least afforded himself that ability; To make sure that meetings started on time, and that he was well prepared for him. He pulled up the engineering requirements on his PADD. They were rather surprising, but he enjoyed a good challenge and this challenge was one of the most unique and hopeful that he had ever seen on a ship.
He looked up from his PADD and gave cordial greetings as each officer filed in and took a seat. Once the last one was seated, he sat up and put his PADD down on the table. The meeting invite only had one word in the subject when he had sent it out… “CONFIDENTIAL”.
Morro put on a smile, this was the good kind of confidential. One that built and showed confidence.
Caras: I’ve called you all here to discuss a project that was given to me shortly after I came aboard. This is less formal than usual but it is an active project that might require unique solutions and I'm looking to get insight from each one of you. I do expect the utmost sensitivity and confidentiality here; since we’re dealing with the topic of someone’s possible offspring.
Naledi was the only one that Caras had sent a message to ahead of time. Asking if it was alright to discuss this topic and getting the intelligence files containing the information.
Vharo/Tito/Naledi: Response
Morro continued on with his spiel after hearing from the others. He wanted to stress the accommodating factors rather than the scientific or safety concerns first. That was what was most important to him, and what he felt was important for the attitude of the ship.
Caras: Since around Stardate 236608.28, Starfleet has moved towards accommodating all species that fill its ranks with facilities to support both the birthing of, and the care of offspring. That means if you’re in Starfleet, you should be able to have the ability to procreate without special permission. It is a private and personal choice.
Caras liked that Starfleet gave its people that level of autonomy. There were a few species that still had restrictions on them, like the Gorn, but even then they seemingly would grant special leave or make other accommodations for their personnel. Afterall, the reason a lot of people were in Starfleet was because of their families. For many, Starfleet was a way of providing, protecting, or even honoring the legacy of their families. If Starfleet didn’t allow accommodations for families, he wondered where they would be.
He looked to see what everyone might say to that. He hoped he had picked the correct people for this.
Vharo/Tito/Naledi: Response
This would be interesting
Caras: At the moment This vesta class ship does not provide the facilities needed to support Xindi insectoid offspring. I aim to rectify that. Usually this would fall to Operations, however since there are several large Engineering caveats that must be made, it’s fallen to me. I’ve been informed because of the nature of Xindi egg clusters, the fact that they possess the ability to create and deploy a powerful neurotoxin; Sickbay might not be the best place for them and Sciences might be more fitting for protection, containment, and monitoring. It’s also because of that Neurotoxin and containment that I've asked for security to be here as well.
Caras emphasised the important roles of both sciences and security and looked to each respective officer as he illuminated the group on the project.
Vharo/Tito/Naledi: Response
Caras: I can appreciate that. ::looking at each person in the room::Lieutenant Tito, I need someone who knows their way around all the science labs and systems; and can help find the proper place for these eggs if they were ever to be laid. Ensign Vharo, I’ll need your assistance coming up with the proper kind of containment and protection for these eggs, They can’t be startled or tampered with, and we need a good way to monitor them without possibly setting them off.Lieutenant Naledi you’re here as a representative of your own species, and to answer questions about the eggs, their containment and your preferences as we design a system for hatching them. I still hope you don’t mind this being discussed.
Caras winced a little at his own use of rank. He didn’t really want this to be seen as a job, even though it was an official ship project. He figured it was better settled more casually, rather than possibly making it awkward with formalities. He wanted it to be seen as helping build a nursery for a neighbor, rather than containing a dangerous science experiment, and he was doing a poor job already.
He didn’t want to outright imply that these would be for Naledi if they were to ever lay eggs, but there were no other Xindi insectoids on the ship, so it was incredibly obvious. He also didn’t want to imply because they had actively worked on this project that Naledi was expected to lay eggs. That would be one of the worst things he could think of. He would never want to accidentally make someone feel obligated to have children.
Vharo/Tito/Naledi: Response
Perfect, they were off to one of the most awkward starts possible.
