[End Prologue] LtCmdr Sasch Kreshkova - Oh No!

Ral, as a pilot, was a bit of an unknown.  But with Meris at his side, Sasch leaned back in her chair.  Her shoulders relaxed until a light began to flash on her console.  Casually, she reached over and tapped it to pull up the message. 

As she read it, her eyes got big, and her mouth opened and hung there for several seconds before she found her voice.

Kreshkova: Oh... no!

 

The two pilots immediately turned round in their seats.

 

Meris: Commander? Is everything all right?

 

Ral: What is it?

Kreshkova: Our comms - and I’m sure zhe Zhor’s bridge - has just received an SOS message from Captain Promontory.

Kreshkova: Mister Ral, drop us out of varp, turn us around, and take us back to zhe Zhor.

 

Ral: Aye, Commander.  Dropping to impulse and plotting reciprocal course back to the Thor.

 

Meris: I will arrange priority clearance for us to land.

 

Ral dropped to sublight speed and pointed them back toward the Thor with efficiency.

 

Meris: Thor Shuttlebay Operations, this is the shuttlecraft Magni requesting immediate recovery clearance under priority conditions.

 

Meris: The main bay is unavailable. It will take them several minutes to make room for us or, if we want to land immediately, they are recommending using the fantail landing area. They'll then recover the Magni via the fantail lift.

 

Ral:  Making the adjustment for the alternate approach.

As Ral maneuvered them inside the shuttle bay, their combadges chirped simultaneously.

Saa: =/\= Crew of the USS Thor, this is Commander…. And currently acting Captain Sevantha Saa. We have received an SOS from our Captain onboard the Syren’s Song and have learned the USS Janaran is unresponsive. I need every Department Chief to start preparations for their teams to depart in under an hour. =/\=

Saa: =/\= Lieutenant Tito and Commander Aislin will be temporary joint Chief Science Officers until Commander DeVeau is back with us.  =/\= 

Saa: =/\= Once we’ve set out all Chiefs report to the Ready Room for debrief.  =/\=

Kreshkova: I guess ve haf our orders for once ve land.

 

Meris: Shuttlebay Operations confirms we have immediate clearance to land on the fantail.

 

Ral: Taking us in.

The shuttle approached and then dropped gently onto the deck.  The hum of the power systems died off as the shuttle was powered down. 

Kreshkova: Good flying, Lieutenant.  Let’s head to our duty stations until ve receive subsequent orders.

Sasch locked out her console and stood waiting for the others to precede her out.  She exited the bridge, wondering who the new Commander was.
