Kessler: ::looking back from V’Len to John:: Sir, you mentioned you came in late. May I ask, what line of work are you in?

Ulasso looked at John. The man had a large, bushy mustache that curled down past his mouth in a handlebar shape. The rest of his face was curiously clean shaven. Ulasso would never understand why these humans troubled with styling their facial hair. In his mind he thought they should all have all the hair on their bodies removed permanently. Then, like a Saurian they wouldn't ever have to bother with it.

John:  ::disgruntled::  My brother always had his nose in a Bible and that's probably why his businesses were in such a sad state.  I'm not even sure how he met Jenna given the time he spent at the church.  The man could barely read a watch and yet he could quote chapter and verse like an octogenarian priest.

Ulasso walked casually past the man, and as he went by his nostrils curled upwards as he tried to get a scent off the man. Sadly, like Jenna, this man had no smell as well. Ulasso would have to talk to V'Len about this after, he didn't understand how you could have a mystery without the smelling of clues being an important part.

Hannah:  It's true, Sean was very devout.  John has been telling me for months that he has been worried about Sean.  I always got the impression things were going fine, but John has been saying that his business has suffered.  But who would want to kill him?  He was always kind, his employees all seemed smiles when I visited him at work.

This woman, Hannah, was dressed in a long flowing green dress. She also wore a silly looking black hat on her head that seemed to have some sort of colorful green flowers on top of it. Ulasso was happy that these ancient Earth fashions hadn't seemed to inspire Star Fleet dress code. At least the women wasn't wearing yellow...

John: I own an apothecary here in town. I was unloading some supplies that had come in.

Ulasso thought this was interesting. The dead man, Sean had been found with a syringe. From what he knew of earth apothecarys, they should have the means to kill a man if one knew the ingredients well enough.

Kessler: An interesting trade, has John come to you for any medicines recently?

John:  I store and provide any number of  chemicals and medicinals.

That was curious, John seemed to have dodged Kessler's question and given a pre-recorded response possibly, similar to Ulasso's earlier questions that were not directly answered. oOBetween the lack of smell and these missed cues, this must be V'Len's poor holodeck programming skillsOo he thought to himself. oONext time I will insist he lets me help him, even if it spoils the mystery for me.Oo Hannah continued to break down over the loss of their brother, while Jack kept up his questioning.

Kessler: One final question sir, do you know anyone that might want to hurt your brother?

John looked up at the ceiling for a moment as if in thought.  Then he sighed.

John:  As I said his businesses were suffering.  It's possible he borrowed money from the wrong sort of people.

That seemed a bit too general of an assumption to Ulasso. If the man had been found at the bottom of a canal, or dead in an alleyway he could see it being the work of "the wrong sort of people", however Sean's death had been more curious. In his own room with no signs of forced entry.

V'Len:  Hannah and John, if I could.  Did Sean have any nicknames he used for you?  I occasionally call my sister Rose, though her name is Rosro.

Hannah:  No.  Growing up our parents were very traditional.  I guess you'd say we weren't encouraged to have "fun".  It was always Hannah and John.  We always called him Sean.

V'Len:  John, you mentioned your brother had trouble telling time, what did you mean by that.

John:  ::frustrated::  He couldn't read a watch or a clock. If it was dinner time he'd tell you it was 10 am.  If you asked him in the morning how long until lunch, he had no idea.  I'm not even sure he knew what day of the week or year it was.  That's probably why he was having business difficulties, he had a hard time keeping track of things

Hannah nodded in agreement with her brother's assessment.

Jack: Response

Ulasso: That sounds...frustrating. Yet you mention he didn't know what year it was. Curious as his note had the incorrect year listed. Perhaps his mental faculties were failing him.

Ulasso looked around the room. As far as he knew, it was a modest living for people on Earth during that time. It didn't seem overly decadent, yet he could tell the two were able to at least support themselves and not want for food. The soft crackling of a fire in the hearth, as well as the occasional carriage passing by outside were the only noises outside their ongoing conversation.

V'Len:  ::turning to John:: I'm sorry to say it Mr. Donovin, but we will need to have you come to the city morgue to confirm the identity of your brother's body.  We can meet you there in a few hours.

Excusing himself, John turned to go upstairs to dress himself.

V'Len:  ::turning to Hannah::  Before we go, could we bother you for some tea, its frigid out there.

Hannah pulled herself together and left the room to comply.  She seemed happy to have something to do rather than sit and remember her brother.

V'Len:  I have some definite suspicions about John Donovin, but right now I can't justify taking him in.  We could ask to examine his room, but I'm not sure how we'd justify it and given Sean's death by lethal injection we're unlikely to find evidence.  No other weapon, no bloody clothes.  We need a motive.

Jack: Response

Ulasso: I don't like people that aren't punctual, but I would say it's a far stretch to kill a man over tardiness. We know he was having money troubles, and that his note said to look for god for answers. Perhaps the two are related?

V'Len:  Those are fair points.  What do we make of the fact that Sean seemed to have such a horrible concept of time, but included a time in his "suicide note"?

Jack/V'Len: Responses

Ulasso: If the man was being forced to write the note somehow, maybe he was trying to hide another message in it, similar to the one in the bible without being detected. It makes me wonder what they could have on him to force him to do so however...possibly someone threatening his family?

UIlasso watched as V'Len sat down on the couch, he took a large, overstuffed chair near the fire where he could be most warm. Part of him wanted to lay on the rug right in front of it and curl up, absorbing as much  warmth as possible, however he didn't want to ruin his crewmates immersion into the mystery.

V'Len:  Also, why did Sean address the letter to "Jena, Sis and John"?  Why not "Jena, Hannah and John" or "Jena and Family"?

Jack: Response

Ulasso: I am at a loss V'Len. Do you think these holo people have any brandy to put in the tea? I know it won't be Saurian Brandy, but any hot toddy might make this cold more bearable.

Jack/V'Len: Responses

The sound of footsteps, along with the clattering of teacups on a tray interrupted their conversation. Hannah had reentered the room with a tray containing 3 cups of tea.

Hannah: Do any of you take Sugar?

Ulasso: No, but do you have any Brandy Mamm?

Hannah: Sorry, but not at the moment. Also, shouldn't you try and be clear headed to try and solve my brother's death?

Ulasso: You are right mamm, sorry about that:: under his breath quietly:: I should have gone to Bora-Bora.

Ulasso hadn't had a chance to ask Jack how Bora Bora had gone, however he assumed it had been filled with lots of sun bathing and cocktails on the beach. That would be almost as good as a hot, muggy swamp to a Saurian.

Jack/V'Len: Responses

At that, the loud sounds of Jack bounding down the stairs announced his arrival. The man was now wearing a long black, almost dress like garment that Ulasso assumed was the uniform of an apothecary worker for the time. He also had a strange, square, academic hat, almost like the ones they had worn at StarFleet graduation.

John: Well, let's get to the morgue then, I've got work again tomorrow.

Jack/V'Len: Responses

Ulasso wasn't in a rush to get into the freezing cold again.

Ulasso:  I'm enjoying this tea and fire for the moment, and well, Sean won't be getting any deader right? Let's stay and finish the tea.

John: I'm of the mind to throw you out on the curb for that comment, son. We are leaving my house, now.

Ulasso: Fine...but I'm taking this...and borrowing this.

Ulasso set his tea down for a second and grabbed a large fur coat off a coat rack. He bundled it around himself , refilled his tea, and then cupped the hot tea in his hands. He then followed the others out the door.
