((Main Officer, Administrative Building))

Brought before N37W02K the trio were attempting to continue their escape efforts. Sevantha had launched into a discussion regarding observations she had made regarding the Astrachthoni and their need to consume. The action served two purposes, to test whether their keeper truly wished any discussion regarding their freedom, and to buy her comrades time to investigate the machines that matched the rhythm of breathing. If the N37W02k chose not to honor the deal they had made to rescue their fellow officer, Sevantha wasn’t about to continue this hostage situation.

She had volunteered the officers for the rescue mission and she wasn’t about to abandon them. Hopefully, some of them had gotten loose enough to cause chaos.

Saa: Mixed with an increasingly sedentary lifestyle, what toll is that taking on your evolutionary development? Is this process truly sustainable for your species?

Ral: Sedentary lifestyles eventually lead to sterility of a species.  We’ve seen it before.

N37W02K: You speak a lot, but say little.

oO Rude. Oo

Sevantha used every word of her voice to present them a real dilemma and inquire about it, but their current audience appeared to have no interest in hearing it.

Ral: What’ll happen when your audience start dying out?

N37W02K: Our audience endures. When our actors do not, we replace them.

Divya shifted in place,, cautious about drawing too much attention, and tapped at her side. Sevantha eyed it the best she could. While Federation Sign Language was easy for her to read, morse code took her longer to interpret. It was part of basic security class she had struggled back at the academy.

N37W02K:  You would do well to accept the roles you are given.

She found herself torn away from the message to reply to their captor. If she could buy Wyatt and Divya more time, maybe they could act, or maybe she hoped for a miracle worker or two from her crew to make their lives very difficult.

Saa: Species that have known freedom rarely respond to‌ subjugation peacefully. ::She looks towards them:: You have found across every show there have been disruptions, struggles…

Ral: Response

Tam: Even you have to admit that our actions were entertaining. I'm surprised that, given how much your people seek entertainment and stories, you were not willing to work with us to produce something truly unique. That tells me your goal is not entertainment, but to distract your people.

Ral: Distract from what?

Both Tam and Ral applied pressure to a being Sevantha realized early in the negotiations would not break. They viewed their power as absolute and they were insignificant, replaceable pawns to serve a sentence then tossed aside.

Saa: …Can your people truly ever be satisfied, what happens when this can no longer sustain them?

N37W02K: You know nothing of our goals, or our people.

F…A…B…R…I..C

C…O…V…E…R…I…N…G

Divya had been trying to inform them and Ral was attempting to move, only for the god light to fall onto him. An increase in heat became very apparent as they stood there, and Sevantha felt her chest tighten. His suffering was not just something she could physically witness but feel as well, and a single fist reactively clenched. Suffering in her position was part of the job, she knew how to endure, and while she was aware every Starfleet Officer did, seeing her friend harmed caused a quiet internal rise in temperature.

N37W02K: If you are so keen to tap a rhythm and move about, perhaps you should dance for your dinner.

oO Great fire. Oo

They’d caught on.

Ral/Tam: Response

Saa: Stop. ::she took another bold step towards the voice:: Don’t you harm-

And then the light expanded to encompass her too, effectively stopping her from progressing forward. If she tried the heat she suspected would intensify, burning both of her comrades, something she knew both as officers and friends were willing to endure but she was not ready to sacrifice them to.

N37W02K: You bore me.

Every bit of restraint she had put into staying her tongue.

Saa: ~ I’m sorry ~

It was the one thing she could tell both of them for the situation they were in. As any captain, she’d take the responsibility for their predicament, and currently, for being unable to reach the being's heart as a scientist or counselor. Even the Zet had desires one could leverage and work with, but this was effectively arguing with something like a god.

A god that relied on machines still to breathe.

Ral/Tam: Response

In the darkness, energy vibrated in the air, and Sevantha stilled. Security measures were active and posed a threat to their lives if they did not cooperate. Lifting her hands, the Betazoid revealed a universal sign of surrender to avoid any further harm coming to Divya and Wyatt. Her friends had endured enough because of her.

Now was the time to lie. She’d endured seasons of the Real Matriarchs of Betazed having to pretend to be friends with beings who weren’t real, convince herself to endure affection from a dishonest man who they dared to write as her Imzadi. She faked it for the cameras for seasons, and now she’d do it to try to save them.

To be wholly dishonest in the presentation of herself to lure the N37W02K into a false sense of security. Sevantha strategically chose to strengthen all the mental shielding she could muster to prevent Wyatt from reading her too easily. If this was going to be believable, no one could know her next move.

She hoped that alone would be a sign to them that she was planning something.

N37W02K: Now, I suggested we negotiate your contracts.

Saa: Fine…::biting her lip:: Bring them out.

Ral/Tam: Response

Standing perfectly still, Sevantha stared ahead into the darkness, searching for the sound of the voice. A large screen appeared in front of them with text that shifted and moved as it translated. Her eyes narrowed in distrust at this before looking upwards. The intensity of the heat was unpleasant, but she was going to stall as long as she could.

Saa:  Do you have legal representation and lawyers? ::She tilts her head:: You are aware, based on the programming content, that most of our species have legal systems that oversee this.

N37W02K/Tam/Ral: Response

Naturally, she struggled to accept the answer and responded as professionally as she could.

Saa: The last agreement I made with your species was with M217BS who claimed the authority to arrange these matters. What assures me that any of these terms won’t immediately be violated when the technology cages us in the shows again?

N37W02K: Response

Saa: How do I know the worth of your words if my previous agreements have been nullified?

Tam/Ral: Response

Hearing the sounds grow closer and the heat rise, she exhaled, beginning to look through the text. Stall, buy the crews time to act, she had to do anything to delay the signing but also make it believable that they were beat.

Saa: I want a hard copy. Your choice of archaic paper or maybe a PADD? I had one in my uniform if you could give me that back instead of this wedding dress. That’s the proper attire as Starfleet Officer makes a deal in.::She glances back:: Theirs too, we three made the original deal, we should be the ones to oversee it.

N37W02K/Tam/Ral: Response
