OOC: For our staff team, just keep an eye out as I tweaked the assignments one final time this evening. Looking forward to a great mission together fellow Asgardians!

Captain’s Log, Stardate 240211.01, Lieutenant Commander Josh Herrick reporting, currently in command of the USS Thor.
Upon reaching the outer limits of the Vexilon system, we’ve detected an emergency distress beacon from the scientific research output recently established on the third planet within the system. The unique properties of the Tangle had made it impossible to detect until we were almost on top of it.
Given the priority of the call, we are unable to return to Deep Space 14 to pick up the captain before responding, instead sending a subspace communique advising him of the situation. For now, we’ve entered orbit around the planet.
The Class K atmosphere of the planet has made communication difficult, allowing only the briefest exchanges. From what’s been gathered thus far, their expedition leader is missing, and there is an outbreak of what has been coined ‘Tangleitis.’ Given these developments, I’ve established several teams with specific mandates.
Our newly minted mission specialist, Lieutenant Kreshkova, supported by Lieutenant Commander Alveth and Lieutenant Naledi, will get an update on the investigation thus far and likely take the lead.
Our Operations Chief, Lieutenant Commander Tam, accompanied by Chief Engineer Caras and Science Officer Tito, will assess the progress made in their studies thus far and work to establish stable communications with the ship.
As for the illness, I’ll be tasking our Head of Health, Lieutenant Commander Saa, with investigating this, supported by officers Nera and Vharo. My hopes are that with the diverse skillsets of these individuals, they’ll be able to isolate the cause of this issue before the full outpost is afflicted.
The Bridge team aboard the Thor will be investigating the system as a whole for any signs of foul play while staying close by, primarily led by myself, Chief of Science DeVeau, engineer Ral and our new helm officer Meris.
Eng log.
((Bridge, USS Thor))
Josh didn’t enjoy staying aboard the Thor with so many variables down on the surface, but he had to trust that they were proven and capable officers. If he were going to progress any further in his career, he would have to find a way to get comfortable.
A small chirp from the armchair panel had announced that all three shuttlecraft had landed upon the planet’s surface, meaning the Thor was good to get underway.
Herrick: Meris, start a standard pattern sweep of Vexilon.
DeVeau/Ral/Meris: Response
As the planet pulled away from the viewscreen, it was soon replaced by the usual blank and white starscape that reminded them just how vast the void was. Small colours dots represented planets towards the bow of the ship.
Herrick: What do we know about this system thus far?
The briefing before they’d sent down the teams had focused on the Federation team and planet, less so the system.
DeVeau/Ral/Meris: Response
A valid and logical point.
Herrick: Is any other location here capable of sustaining life? Class K is certainly pushing it for that to be the ideal ‘setting down’ place.
