(( Counseling Morale and Welfare Center, Deck 10 ))

The Thor’s counseling center was the largest and most well-equipped facility Aron had ever found on a starship. It rivaled that of some starbases, in his experience, and the welfare center served anyone who wanted to use it. At the moment, like many of the areas of the ship not devoted to enjoying a good time, it was mostly empty, but he and Geoff were there for one officer: Lieutenant Commander Alexander Brodie, who oversaw all of this.

They quickly spotted the counselor in the large area and approached. Like the marines, the emptiness of the center made it easy for Brodie to spot them coming.

Kells: Hello, Counselor. I was hoping to catch you.

Geoff huffed, the Captain’s long legs and quick stride forcing Teller to nearly sprint from point to point, always a meter or two behind.

Teller: I’d run if I were you, Alex.

Brodie: Response

Kells: Well, no, I knew you’d be here. The computer told me, so this isn’t a chance meeting. But I do have something for you.

Aron took the three ribbons that Geoff removed from the fernwood box, and presented Brodie first with the solid red-orange that he’d recently presented to both Pandorn and Garcia.

Kells: You’ve been head of your department for more than half a year, Commander, but more than that you’ve run it effectively and efficiently. This Department Chief ribbon recognizes both your post and your dedication. Congratulations.

Teller: And a good job from me, Mr. Brodie.  Your support came during some of the Thor’s most difficult moments, and it was unswerving.

Brodie: Response

Kells: As for these next two, well. You certainly experienced more during the last mission than I would expect of any of my crew, and you handled yourself and your subordinates extraordinarily well. You showed both the best of your chosen field and the finest standard of commanding officers, which is why I want to recognize you both with the Prisoner of War ribbon and the Good Conduct ribbon.

Aron presented the two ribbons to Brodie.

Teller: Well done, Mr. Brodie, and well earned.

Brodie: Response

Kells: No, thank you, Counselor. And whatever you may need to help you, just let me know. Now, if you’ll excuse us.

Teller: Oh that reminds me Counselor, I got your message and I really don’t think couples counseling for Sern & I is the answer.

Brodie: Response

(( Chief Medical Officer’s Office, Deck 10 ))

The next stop was just a few doors down, and Aron suspected that it wouldn’t take as long. In fact, he’d only expected to find Del -- the computer had said as much -- but when he ran into Lieutenant Commander Rouiancet as well, that was just a bonus.

Rouiancet: I’m here for a follow-up after the mission, Captain. Unless you wanted to talk to Doctor del Vedova alone?

Kells: No, that’s not necessary. I wanted to see you, too, Commander, to thank you personally and to present you with a pair of ribbons -- the Joint Meritorious Unit Award, for your part in the last phase of the mission, but also the Silver Lifesaving ribbon. What you and Doctor Alieth did for me…

Aron tried once to wrap his words around his thanks, but they were bigger than he could manage at the moment.

Kells: ...well, I don’t have a good way of saying it, but thank you.

Rouiancet: (with a small smile) It’s what I’m here for, sir.

Kells: (to Del) As for you: I’ve already given your team their Scientific Discovery ribbons, which reflects well on you. But because I know you’re going to ask, yes, I have relieved you on both counts of your temporary chief positions. Lieutenant Commander Udro has taken over in science, and in medical -- well, she doesn’t know yet, but she will soon. (beat) That won’t keep me from giving you a Scientific Discovery ribbon, you know.

del Vedova: (pulling a face) They’re going to try and promote me again if you keep up with this.

Kells: Then do better. (beat) I mean, worse. Be mediocre.

del Vedova: I keep trying. I’ve learned from the best.

With a thunderous laugh at Aron’s expense, Del waved him out of sickbay. Aron, with Geoff beside him, went quietly, though he did mutter to Geoff as they left:

Kells: Is there anything in the disciplinary code about throwing officers out of airlocks?

Geoff grinned conspiratorially.

Teller: Hmm, let me think sir....well, I was involved in a situation once where we jettisoned a crewmans luggage via airlock...hmmm...

del Vedova: (loudly) I can hear you!

Kells: (quieter): Maybe if we make it look like an accident?

Teller: Sir, you’d be surprised just how easy it is to get into an accident aboard a starship.  ::Geoff rolled his shoulders and neck, producing various crunches and pops::  Take it from me.

With a nod that produced an additional nauseating pop, Geoff smiled and spun on his heel, already several paces behind their rapidly departing CO. Their penultimate stop was next, and Geoff had been looking forward to it since the Ready Room. Geoff adopted a gruff tone and tapped his commbadge as they headed for the turbolift.

Teller: =/\= Lt. Jg.'s Alieth & Sirok, 1st Lt. Greaves - Report to the Great Hall. Now. =/\=
