((Holosuite 3, Deck 5, USS Thor))
The program had failed somehow and was now paused but the real crew stationed on the bridge were unable to access the controls to leave. He really didn’t want to damage the holodeck just to get out. That would mean a lot more work and he really wanted to see how this whole thing played out.
Caras: Soooooo I guess we Just wait then?
Suddenly the room was filled with the smell of smoke and several new characters had appeared out of no where.
A good number of the photonics lay on the ground, some injured and some fatally wounded. And they also had unexpected guests, dressed in black armoured uniforms with blue trim. A look that seemed to imply they wanted to be intimidating.
These new characters consisted of a mix of races: Humans, Kiligons, Andorians, Tellerites, Orions, Kobliads, and Cardassians. Unfortunately his telepathic gifts didn’t work on holographic characters. It was quite unnerving not knowing what they were going to do next. As he got up to move he noticed a female moving towards him. From the blackness of her eyes he surmised that it was probably a Betazoid.
Caras: Red Alert… if there isn’t one already. Initiate bridge lockdown.
The computer chirped and several of the consoles went dark as bridge functions were restricted.
Nera: What happened?!
Dodging another lunge, Josh called out amongst the chaos.
Herrick: It would seem ::ducking:: that the adaptive programming ::landing a blow to the Andorian's chest:: has taken more than a few liberties.
Wyatt dodged an incoming swing as what looked to be a solid metal bar just caught his left shoulder and pain shot down his arm.
Ral: ADAPTING TO WHAT? BEING BROKEN!
Caras: Grab a phaser. Security! Where is that internal force field net? What happened!? Help out who you can!
Morro threw a phaser to him as the Betazoid female character, metal bar in hand, started to walk towards him as he backed away holding the phaser and quickly upping the power to maximum stun.
Nera: On it!
Nera: Security forces spread through the ship, and Sickbay is already triaging wounded as they come in. We’ve got hostile forces spread from decks 1 to 3, and 5 to 9. Where are they coming from…
He pressed the fire button and the beam of bright orange lanced out and hit the female in the chest. The energy seemed to dissipate around the suit and caused her to pause for a moment.
Herrick: (shouting) Their armour seems to give them a defensive shield against phaser fire.
Ral: Hand to hand combat it is. I hope you all remember your security training!
He flashed the doctor a quick smile as he drew the Betazoid female away from the others.
Caras: Computer. Stop simulation. Computer?
Herrick: Computer, recognize command override Herrick-Alpha-Two and end program.
It replied rather sluggishly.
Computer: In-va-va-valid command. No pr-pro-pro-grammmm is in progress.
Wyatt heard the computer voice as he grabbed the metal bar as it was once again swung at him. If the computer didn’t think the program was running he was pretty sure the safeties were off and that bar would do serious damage to his head. He pulled the female towards him as he twisted and moved one leg behind hers making her fall sideways and away from him. Her head hit a console hard and Wyatt cringed at the sound as she slumped onto the deck. The pole fell out of her hand and Wyatt took hold of it as a makeshift weapon.
Caras: Treat this as a real mission, I do not believe the safeties are on, nor should we take any chances. All non-holographic crew, please stay alive. I don’t think this is our standard test any more.
Nera: Endeavouring to do so ::beat:: Found them! They’ve physically boarded us, they’re not beaming on. I’m reading docked ships in the main shuttle bay on Deck 6, and on Deck 3’s observation landing pad.
Wyatt looked towards Josh.
Ral: I’ll see if we have transporter control.
He quickly moved to the console and started to tap in commands. Even the simulated consoles were sluggish. As if the holodeck was drawing all processing power just to cover the multiple holographic characters.
Nera: What was that you were saying about staying alive?
Caras: Response
Herrick: We need to find a safe way to conclude the program.
Ral: I have transporter control but those suits they’re wearing are giving the targeting scanners a hard time.
Herrick: ::firing more shots:: How many left to worry about up here?
Nera: I think there are three left
Ral: We have more on-route in the turbo lift. I’ve sealed the bridge doors but I’m not sure how long it will hold them.
Caras: Response
Nera: ::muttering to himself:: What is it with me and faulty holoprograms.
Herrick: If we pin them down, we might be able to get some answers.
Ral: Are they going to tell us how to exit!
Caras / Nera: Response
Now the majority of the fighting had ended the bridge was quieter once more. There was banging from the other side of the bridge entrance doors.
Ral: Looks like our visitors have arrived. What about this one? ::pointing at the captured intruder::
Caras / Herrick /Nera: Response
Ral: Don’t worry I’ve got that sorted but it’ll only be a temporary fix. We need to find out how we can exit.
Wyatt hit the transporter initiator key and the banging suddenly stopped. The console gave a stuttered chime as it confirmed that the intruders outside the doors had successfully transported to the brig.
Caras / Herrick /Nera: Response
