“Pulling Back The Veil: Part V”

((Outskirts of Kiessa Monastery, Bajor))

Alieth: That is decidedly non-trivial

The Vulcan looked around without noticing anything different. It looked like any of the clearings they had crossed on their way up, but there MUST be something different.

Was it the grass most verdant there?

Did the sun shine brighter?

Perhaps there was a sort of murmur in the gentle breeze that rustled the leaves?

Dar: :: Dar couldn’t help but frown, she knew that there were some obscure tales of other smaller Orbs but she had not heard of this one. :: When did this happen?

Brodie: No-one knows...that’s the mystery...the tales call it the Orb of the Veil. They believe it’s impact caused it to fracture...here...in this clearing it tore through the boundaries between planes.

The doctor spun around to listen to the counsellor's explanation. As he finished his speech she glanced at the glade with renewed respect.

Alieth: The Orb of the Veil… fascinating. 

Dar: It is, seems a fitting place.

Alieth: Yes, I think this is the perfect place. Shall we go Kalib?

Dar walked up to Kalib and rested her hand on his should he had seemed to be lost in thought.

Kalib: You sure its safe?

His voice had changed now slightly to a bit of a waver in it.

Brodie: It’s perfectly safe.

The small group went into the clearing. The tall grass murmured softly as they walked, as the smell of the myriad flowers that sprinkled the small meadow infused the air with an inebriating bouquet.

Perhaps it was because of what the counsellor had said, but the air had an eternal, fragile quality, as if it would shatter at any time if someone breathed heavily.

Alieth:  (in a soft whisper) Reminds me of the mind-space...

Brodie: ::quietly:: That was kind of my thinking...

Dar could feel herself growing more nervous and anxious at what was going to happen.

Dar: What exactly is going to happen? 

Alieth:  When two minds are in close touch, a space is created between them, one that is part of the other, of what they bring with them and what they hide from the world. :: focusing on the teenager:: That is why it is something that is not done lightly.

Alex had never undergone a Vulcan mind meld...he’d been curious but, as Alieth said, it wasn’t something you do recreationally. Now he could see why...he spoke solemnly.

Brodie: And in that space...things can become blurred and...there can be...an exchange.

Dar: What happened?
