Exploring E’kidda’s exhibit was as exciting as Sevantha had hoped, though she hadn’t expected consuming a shot of delaq that hit her small frame faster than it did her taller companions. After feeling compelled to remove her shoes thanks to the drink, she’d found a small piece of one of the exhibits by stepping on it. The pain subsided quickly as her fascination took control with a compulsion to find where it belonged. Turning to her companions, she showed them the piece before trying to hunt the location.
The delaq however would stop her from progressing as she fell into pondering the purpose of the piece outloud.
Saa: In itself, it could be it’s own piece of the exhibit, a stray detail that one sees importance in and spends their time trying to find and perceive meaning when there is not, missing the surrounding experiences in their journey to represent Onism ::She swayed a little:: Yet in the sondor, it is one piece that a good deal of people may discount the importance of. Lost in the vastness of the universe and overlooked, yet it has untapped potential that those who pass it by may never realize.
Feredo: (looking up and to the right) There!
Caras: Not sure how it got from up there to down here.
The gold scars brightened as a tangible joy filled the surrounding air at their discovery of where it might fit. Rushing over the best she could in her dress, she held the piece up only to find she was too short to reach the location, even standing on her tiptoes.
Herrick: (to Goh) Do you have a ladder?
Feredo: (kneeling beside her) Seems like we got to lift you up.
Hearing Feredo, she turned towards him, surprised how he’d snuck up on her, but the fixation on the solution was strong. Cautiously, she stepped up, using the man as her lift. Whether it was smart to do with the drink in her system was another question, for another time, when she was sobered and questioned her life choices.
Caras: It should be easy if you use our shoulders as a base
Herrick: I’ll stand behind, just in case you fall.
Shoulders as a base, Sevantha wasn’t sure Starfleet would appreciate her using a diplomat as a makeshift ladder, but it appeared to be the only way to fit the piece back into place.
Caras: Feredo, are you able to stand on your toes? That will give her a little more stability. I saw you were working with some great footwork earlier.
Saa: A-almost…::stretching:: got.. It.. ::Placing it back in:: There!!
Martial arts practice carried her through the precarious balancing act on Feredo’s shoulders. Pressing it further into the piece, the exhibit began to glow and her eyes widened in wonder. The piece had truly belonged to a part of the exhibit, locked away until someone had noticed it was missing.
Then came the fall. Sevantha felt her balance give and down she went, the drop back fell strangely long, the world slowed, but as promised, she didn’t find the ground. Instead, she felt Morro catch her before placing her carefully back onto her feet. She flashed him a warm smile.
Herrick: Definitely an interactive exhibit.
Feredo: I wonder how many people may have passed it by… or will pass it by… not realizing how small an action can make such a large impact.
To her, it sounded like a ripple effect and a common result of the interactions she found in Starfleet.
Caras: Interesting that it should turn into Tabit. And that we would all need to be together in order to see it. But look.::pause:: Other people are now being able to enjoy it.
Tabit? Was that the name of the star Orion circled? She still wasn’t fully educated on the system though she was working her way through what she could find. Separating fact from fiction was more difficult than she had hoped.
Saa: A puzzle within a puzzle, a single lost piece is actually a very important part of a much larger picture. ::She tilts her head:: I wonder if it's intentional that many of the attendees may not find the full experience if they are not open to exploring the space beyond the confines of a mere exhibit… Yet those who find it are left with the true wonderment of the experience.
Goh: And they become more powerful when they are internalized, when we stretch and grow, when we are challenged to be more than who we are while still being satisfied with how we came to be. That our past decisions can inform our current ones but shouldn’t limit our future actions.
Caras: Seems like it would be pretty fulfilling being able to see that kind of insight being acknowledged and reflected every day in an exhibit like this.
Listening, Sevantha was finding herself reflecting internally more than verbally and had to make herself consciously speak up to engage with the others.
Saa: …Is the delaq used to altar the viewers usual thought process or lose one’s usual limitations…
Goh gave them all a curious look, then their expression changed.
Goh: Now, you and you ::pointing to Feredo and Saa:: and you and you ::pointing to Morro and Josh:: will pair up. It’s obvious you know each other to some degree. So now it’s time to take that deeper. Now, hold hands and share something you feel the other may not have noticed in themselves.
A brief bit of concern echoed in her mind as she realized Goh had paired Morro and Josh and share an aspect of themselves in which the other might not have noticed. Sevantha didn’t know Feredo well and she didn’t immediately think about the warning she needed to give about touching her.
Feredo: Sounds like fun!
Caras: Ok…. now what?
Saa: Morro…
Her voice was gentle but noting his tone was a little more obvious than he might have realized.
Goh: Now share. This is an important part of the exhibit. The art is about finding out how you can connect to one another.
Caras: Alright so something I appreciate about you Josh.
She remained focused on her partner and as his attention turned towards her, she offered both an encouraging smile and gently warmth of a mental embrace to give him the courage to move forward. Once she was sure that he was going in the right direction, she turned to Feredo, extending her hands, only to withdraw them in hesitation.
Saa: Are you alright with a telepath and empath touching you?
Feredo/Herrick: Response
Caras: I don’t think you know how good you are at looking out for others. You have a keen eye and can follow one another's well and I think you have a gut instinct in knowing when to step in, and when to not.
Exhaling, she focused, trying to note all the things she had observed in their short time together. The way he worked to keep secrets and surprise Josh, his bubbly personality that walked right into danger. He did not linger on the negative in the room and in ways, she found that might have challenged the Intelligence Officer turned First Officer in a number of ways.
Saa: Feredo, we have not known each other long, but you appear to challenge Josh’s very nature in a way he needs from time to time. You have an energy about you that invites excitement and adventure, embracing the unknown and unexplored.
Feredo/Herrick: Response
Caras: … thanks… that is …actually insightful.::pausing for a long time:: We.. ready to move on to the next one?
Feredo’s observation broke her smile, not out of dislike or grief, but consideration as she internalized it. Once it had settled in, her smile returned, and she responded.
Saa: I am… surprised by your observation, though maybe I shouldn’t be as you’re quite the skilled diplomat, people are also your purview.
Feredo/Herrick: Response
Goh: If you’ll follow me..
Saa: It is refreshing to view art on board and not have to deal with counterfeits or thefts connected.
Spinning around to follow after the curator, Sevantha wondered if she had inadvertently jinxed them by mentioning Morro and her luck.
Feredo/Herrick/Caras: Response
Saa: Morro and I have had more than a few adventures with art from DS 14 all the way to Cryethrea, forgeries of artists from the Alpha and Beta quadrants have been found. ::She mused a little:: We never get to just enjoy it-
Abruptly Sevantha paused her train of thought, quietly scanned the room, trying to decipher if what she felt was real or if the delaq had her hallucinating. A flash of another’s emotions she couldn’t place to her companions or their host had appeared, a mix of excitement and fear, urgency that did not belong with their collective group.
Feredo/Herrick/Caras: Response
Saa: Curator, we are the only guests for the evening correct?
Goh: Yes. ::Gesturing to Feredo:: The preview is an exclusive arrangement as promised.
