Herrick: Whoever they are, they seem to be holding their own. We need to continue on.
Tito: Yeah but holding on against who?
The audible sound of boots squeaking against the well maintained floor was indistinguishable just as a quiet albeit strangled sob echoed from behind the door.
Alora’s eyes flicked to the door, then back to the others.
DeVeau: And that changes everything.
Herrick: Agreed, we’re not leaving someone to get executed.
Vharo offered a glance back at the door, her expression hardening as it swung back to the trio of more senior officers. A noble sentiment but sentiment was a poor shield against phaser fire.
Vharo: Indeed, we have a newfound urgency to solve this issue.
Tito silently nodded as Alora lowered her voice.
DeVeau: If we aren’t careful, we’re going to get killed ourselves. Levels always have more than one access point. We can go around and get to them from other directions.
Herrick: Splitting up… not ideal. ::chewing on it:: But, I don’t see another option.
Commander Herrick glanced at her and Tito
Tito: I concur. Maybe using the element of surprise and go in from two directions.
The Orion made a so-so motion with her hand, the ghost of amusement passing across her features briefly. Sneaking up on someone armed and under distress with nothing more than a kind word and a smile was certainly a plan one could enact.
Vharo: Frankly under normal circumstances it'd be a terrible idea but currently its best we are going to manage. Have to take it on with not a small amount of faith and more importantly luck.
Vharo watched as DeVeau mulled over their options, the plan coming to life in that handful of quiet moments.
DeVeau: Vharo, you and I will double around and come in front of them - distract them. Tito, Herrick, you two, try to sneak up from behind and take control of the situation.
Commander Herrick gave it a nod of approval.
Herrick: All else fails, you can bust out those pipes again.
Vharo nodded her head alongside Tito, it wasn't like she could say no to Commander DeVeau. An obligation remained after all, seeing as she'd yet to return a gift to the woman. She'd hoped it could've been something small but risking catching a phaser round to satisfy her code would save her from small talk at least.
Vharo: Just please remember to be careful, I don't want to put my trauma class into practice.
Herrick: Let’s just say that a talent night on the Thor will be added to the social calendar sooner than later. ::looking to Tito:: Right, with me.
Vharo returned Tito's nod, watching him and the Commander trundle up the stairs. As they vanished she turned her attention back to Commander DeVeau,
pointing to the door set into the wall behind her, their way around.
Vharo: I've got point Commander. It should be a straight shot around, though with that ::she pointed at the still smoldering door:: deadlined we should be mindful not to run into our shooter accidently.
She dipped her head as she got back to her feet, depressing the door switch as she rose. She spared a moment to peek her head out into the accessway just in case before pushing onward in a jog.
As the pair made their way around the Orion scanned the walls and doors, she was looking for something that would've passed for a weapon but short of frisbeeing a painting she was at a loss.
Vharo: Commander, I trust our part of the plan didn't require us to be armed because I'm seeing a distinct lack of weapons unless you've got a good arm and want to throw one of those pot plants I saw across the way.
DeVeau: Response.
Vharo pointed up at the ceiling before she nodded in the direction of the fire suppression semiotic as they passed it. Nothing said distraction like a face full of fire suppression foam or failing that the alarm.
Vharo: The suppression system is still active from the looks of it, I'm not saying it should be the first option but I think we'd be in safer straits if we had a back-up plan especially if Commander Herrick and the Lieutenant get into trouble.
DeVeau: Response.
The woman nodded as she dipped her hand into her thigh pouch, fingers wrapping around her bypass kit as she slipped it out. She offered it up to the Commander as they slowed, approaching the opposite door.
Vharo: Thankfully we had a meeting about the ship's systems before we launched this rescue, you'll be able to key up the suppression system through that among other things or well you should be able to. I'm not totally confident our benefactors have left the ship well enough alone. You might trip the suppression foam or you might set mood lighting for the whole deck.
DeVeau: Response.
