((Deck 7, Main Shuttlebay, USS Thor))
With the decision to let Wyatt pilot the shuttle, the three headed back inside. Once the other two were in, Sasch closed the door behind them. As she did, the ambient noise from the Bay dissipated, leaving only the faint hum of the instrumentation inside the shuttle. Sasch slipped into a seat at a secondary console. Wyatt sat in the pilot’s seat and Meris in the seat next to him. Sasch chose to monitor the Magni’s systems.
Meris: Auxiliary power online. Running preflight diagnostic sweep on helm controls, RCS thruster quads, and inertial dampening systems. Warp core output remains stable and plasma variance is holding within acceptable limits.
Ral: Confirmed. Everything appears to be within nominal range.
Kreshkova: Shuttle systems all functioning vizhin normal parameters.
Meris: Structural integrity field synchronized. Navigational deflectors responding normally. Control surfaces calibrated. All primary systems at standby.
Ral: Looks like we’re all set.
Kreshkova: Vonce ve haf clearance to depart, take her out, Lieutenant.
Sasch heard the bleep of the comms console and Meris’s request to depart. The lights in the shuttle bay began to flash their warning red.
Meris: We have clearance to depart, Lieutenant. You may take us out at your leisure.
Ral: Try not to judge my flying too harshly, Lieutenant. :: smiling::
Kreshkova: Ve each haf our areas of strengzh and veakness, Mister Ral. Ve are in no place to sit in judgment. Unless ve zhink you’re going to hit somezhing. But I haf confidence zhat you won’t.
Ral: How’s the systems looking?
Sasch touched the console to toggle between two screens.
Kreshkova: All systems are in zhe green.
Meris: Response
Ral: She’s handling well.
Sasch chuckled.
Kreshkova: Zhat’s because ve treated her like a lady, made sure she vas taken care of.
Meris: Response
Ral: How rigorous a test had you in mind, Lieutenant?
Meris: Response
Sasch kept her eyes on her own console. Even with the inertial dampeners doing their job, she could feel the shift in the shuttle as Ral maneuvered it. Wyatt seemed to be enjoying his turn at the helm. oO A barrel roll? Zhat’s ambitious. Oo
Kreshkova: Let’s stress a few more systems and see how she responds.
Meris: Response
Ral: Still within tolerances?
Meris: Response
Wyatt accelerated the ship rapidly then commanded a full emergency stop while initiating a 180 degree turn.
Kreshkova: I barely felt zhat, Lieutenant. And ve didn’t stall, vhich means Meris did a great job chasing zhat variance down. Let’s try a short jaunt at varp to make sure zhat’s functioning as vell.
Sasch caught Ral's grin and returned it with one of her own.
Meris/Ral: Response
Kreshkova: Vonce she's in varp, let’s leave here zhere for about zhirty seconds before ve drop her out.
Meris/Ral: Response
A notice flashed across the comms channel. Sasch opened it up, and her jaw slipped open.
Kreshkova: Oh…no!
Meris/Ral: Response
Kreshkova: Our comms - and I’m sure zhe Zhor’s bridge - has just received an SOS message from Captain Promontory.
Sasch turned toward the other two.
Kreshkova: Mister Ral, drop us out of varp, turn us around, and take us back to zhe Zhor.
Meris/Ral: Response
