That saw Geoff, Chief Sirok, Doctor Alieth, and Ensign Jehe on their way, and left Aron with Ensign Katsim and Captain Greaves with Shipmaster Nokzu and Director Saulan. Again Aron granted them a brief bow.

Saulan was trying to understand those aliens and it was almost impossible for him. They made no sense, as little as the strange theories under which his technology seemed to work. Were the laws of physics beyond Edge different? And that added another question, how had it been passed on? They seemed to have pushed it aside, as if they were slapping the water and now it was going to splash them. But she couldn't think how it could be done.

Kells: I have many questions for you, Shipmaster, Director. I'm sure you have them for me as well. But for the moment, let us see to this situation. We should begin evacuating your crew immediately.

Nokzu: Agreed Captain Kells. I am grateful for the assistance; however, I must confess I understand this service is likely to be quite costly. We have significant stores of precious metals and many luxury goods aboard. I am sure we can reach an acceptable agreement.

Saulan: And although we may be archaic in your eyes, we can work on multiple projects, our crew is athletically prepared for many situations and has a learning capacity that may surprise you.

Saulan understood what his partner and superior wanted to do, and knew that some were doomed to be outcasts on their planet, perhaps those people could find them employment in a new corporation, even if it was an alien one.

Greaves: (Frowning) There’s no agreement necessary, we’re here to help.

Kells: Response

Like the vital treatment technician who had attended to her wound, the rest seemed to want nothing for their service.

Kells: Doctor Alieth also indicated that you had some special cargo? Something about (beat) Zets?

The squinting eyes of confusion returned to Nenni’s face.

Nokzu: I think you are confused Captain. We are the Zet. That is what we call our species, as well as our homeworld.

Saulan had been busy with many things, but when the vital treatment technician, Dr. Alieth touched her, she felt something strange and then without anyone saying so, she knew the name of her species.

Saulan: VI'm going to check the CO2 levels.

The Deputy Director of Daily Operations only had one theory for such a thing and it was telepathy, something even more impossible than anything they had seen so far. They must have been hallucinating due to lack of oxygen or incorrect filtering of CO2. But when he looked at the computer the levels seemed to be normal, at least in that room.

Katsim: Um, sir, perhaps we should proceed to start with the evacuation of the crew?  Should we go find them, have the ship get a lock and transport them over?

Nenni slowly turned her gaze to the other creature in her best mimicry of an endless. The suit the woman wore was roughly the same size as the others, but Nenni could see she was even shorter than the others.

Nokzu: Of course. I have a request however. The lives of the crew of this ship are my highest priority. With that said, the safe return of The Penetrator is of utmost importance. So much so that I would give my life to see it done if the option were available.

Kells: Responses

Greaves: I’m sure the ship is very important, but let’s focus on saving the crew first. We’ve got limited time for that, and a lot to do.

Saulan: I don't know if you understand. If we go back without the ship, it won't be worth coming back.

He wanted to support Nokzu again, although he did not dare to say that just by asking for help they might already be in irreparable trouble. Perhaps because of the discovery of those aliens and their technology they could be saved.

Katsim: Is there some sort of intercom system we could use to ask people to congregate in a certain area?  It would speed up the process of everyone was in one place.

Nokzu: Much of the ship is exposed to the vacuum of space, and the crew is quite large. We don’t have any place for them to congregate, but we could have them report to a central position in shifts. The crew is quite organized by shifts and departments. If need be, it would be a simple matter to have them all report individually to a location at deconflicted times. Saulan, do you have any ideas to speed up their evacuation?

She said all of this with a sense of pride.

Saulan: In addition, the breaches themselves have already greatly limited the habitable area of the ship. Except for the specialists in non-atmospheric works of gravity 0, who wear vacuum suits.

Greaves: That sounds like it would work. Worst case, we get a second set of pattern enhancers to set up at the rally point.

Kells: Responses

Nokzu: Very well. We’ll make the appropriate directives.

Nenni paused and tapped into the controls on the arm of the throne for several moments before looking up.

Nokzu: I’ve entered the correct authentications. Saulan, please notify the crew and their supervisors of their assignments.

Saulan: I'm on it. :: By pressing several buttons, different pre-recorded messages told the crew what to do. ::

Nokzu: Now, with that underway, I would like to revisit the topic of the ship. Like I said, it’s of utmost importance to return her to Zet. Is that something within your capabilities?

Greaves: That really is a better question for the engineers, Peri, how are those microfractures looking? Is it even something that would hold up to a tractor beam towing the ship?

Katsim: Response

Kells: Response

Nokzu: I see. I won’t sacrifice the crew to the cause, but I’m more than sure that we will have plenty willing volunteers to brave any danger to see it through.

Saulan: We have dedicated a lot of effort to get here, we understand that we must turn around. But losing the ship would be too high a price to pay.

Kells/Katsim: Response

Greaves: With all due respect shipmaster, a bunch of gold and circuitry isn’t worth all of your lives.

Nokzu: This is not vanity, this is our future.

Greaves: Of course, I didn’t mean to imply…

Saulan: I do not know how you see it, and perhaps for you it is archaic, little more than an old-fashioned toy. But this ship is one of the greatest technological efforts any corporation has ever made. Its loss would not only mean the economic condemnation of all of us here, but of many, many more people.

Kells/Katsim: Response

Saulan: We have been able to see your ship. And in that space, so many people cannot live together during the 6 rotations that it takes to return to the planet. We understand that your technology is superior, but I don't think you can just create more space.
Any Starfleet officer knows what it took to move a ship in impulse before without the current propulsion systems, inertial dampers and structural fields. Leaving aside the bending engine that except in emergencies was reserved for travel between star systems.

Kells/Katsim/Greave/Nokzu: response?

Saulan: Can it go that fast? There are still many of us if they can use Penetrator as a lifeboat it will be easier to take us. Although... even if the outer hull has cracks the ship is ready. If we can get it away from The Edge, we can repair it. You have to give us a chance.

Kells/Katsim/Greave/Nokzu: response?
