((1300 Hours, Arboretum, Deck 5, USS Thor))
Vharo hummed quietly to herself as finished her second lap of the Arboretum, its silence and relative disuse during the middle of the day had given her a place to dwell in her thoughts without interruption since she'd arrived.
A well appreciated silence that was unceremoniously shattered by the faint beeping of her watch, helpfully reminding her that she still had work to do and couldn't infact wander aimlessly around with the plants all day. This however would be but a prelude to her peace being taken because as she rounded the first corner and her gaze shifted to check the noisy timepiece she somehow collided with the only other person in this giant room.
The sudden collision elicited a sharp exhale from the Orion as she stumbled backwards, now searching for a rank on the unfamiliar face while she gathered herself to gauge how annoyed she was about to be that her rare bout of serenity had been quite literally smashed into.
oO Its a new face, be nice Sae. Oo
Vharo: That was unfortunate timing on both our parts.
R’Karr: I apologize.
Vharo dipped her head slightly at the offered apology that she wasn't sure was warranted given she hadn't been paying attention but it would seem neither was the new face.
Vharo's expression remained impassive save the flicker of amusement present in her eyes as she took the Tactical Officers offered hand and shook it. R'Karr's fumble was one she was well acquainted with.
Vharo: A pleasure, I'm Ensign Vharo, one of Thor's Intelligence Officers or well currently only I suppose. You must be Commander Tam's new face ::turned her wrist towards her as she spoke, checking the time.:: Now duty change over isn't quite yet if you would like to accompany me on what is left of my walk as recompense for the collision on what I infer is your first day. A poor showing on my part.
R’Karr: I…
Vharo kept her gaze on the new officer as her own internal debate raged, had she been too forward with the new arrival, perhaps leaving him to his own devices would be better. She made a conscious effort to suppress her genuine surprise as he spoke up once more.
R’Karr: Sure, I’ll join you.
Vharo turned on her heels with that agreement, slowly starting back up again as she headed for the door. While walking around the Arboretum would've been acceptable to her, she knew it would be more beneficial if she showed him around. After all she had been in his shoes only a short time ago so was painfully aware of the mountain of concerns he currently held, helping him not end up in the warp core was the least she could do.
Vharo: Delightful. Stay close then Cadet Ensign R'Karr.
The intentional jab caused the ghost of a smile to grace her expression as she continued out into the hall, only now pausing to check to see if she was indeed being followed.
Vharo: I will attempt not to spoil what I'm certain will be quite the animated tour from Commander Tam when you meet her later but just in case we'll see the more important areas. The ship has been rather busy recently, so it would pay to be prepared even during our downtime.
Vharo stopped briefly at the cross-section of the deck, pointing down the corridor.
Vharo: One of the more important areas to know especially as a tactical officer given your likelihood of extra duties, that's our mess hall down there. We do have another Caitian officer aboard so you shouldn't have any teething issues with the food replicator. On the less drastic side most of the ship's more fun amenities are also on this deck so it does tend to be one of the more lively decks during regular deployments save of course the Arboretum which is quite silent regardless.
R'Karr: Response.
Vharo smiled very slightly as she started back up again.
Vharo: Indeed, if you want quiet then the Arboretum is quite a pleasant place to find it and consequently where you will find me most days now if I can find the time to leave the office. Now what else can I say about this deck ::she scrunched up her nose, taking a beat.:: Ah if you for some reason have a enjoyment of flying the main hangar deck is on this level as well, though for the sake of your health don't try and convince the flight chief to let you into one of their fighters.
Vharo let out a quiet sigh as it became very clear they'd have to turn a corner earlier than she would've liked as she spotted an unfortunately large group of junior enlisted crewman at the far end of the hall being led on their own tour by one of the Chief's, the Orion sparing a small sympathetic nod with the clearly exhausted SNCO as the pair of officers rounded the corner.
Vharo: Apologies about that, you aren't the only new face aboard today it would seem.
R'Karr: Response.
Vharo dipped her head as the pair continued onwards, occasionally glancing between the halls to make sure they continued to avoid the small groups of newly minted crewmen and their NCO's that currently stalked Deck 5.
Vharo: Speaking of, what then drew you to pursue Tactical at the Academy?
