(( Marine Mess Hall, Deck 9 ))
Aron was able to add the marines’ mess hall on deck 9 to the list of locations on the Thor he knew existed but had not yet been. He expected it to be a rowdy place, but when he found it quiet, he checked his own biases. Why should the marines be any louder than any other crewmember on Thor?
Kells: (low) I don’t think I’ve officially met them yet. Are they those three?
Geoff nodded and headed over to the trio, chatting amicably around one of the mess tables.
Teller: Yes sir, Flight Lieutenants Ishani Singh and Josh Henderson, and Sergeant Sarah Rodriguez.
Aron nodded, but it would’ve been hard to get them wrong, since there were so few people in the mess hall. He approached -- quietly, as seemed to be the norm -- and that was enough to attract their attention.
Kells: Lieutenants Singh and Henderson? And Sergeant Rodriguez?
Teller: As you can tell, the Captain is a firm believer in the element of surprise.
Singh / Henderson / Rodriguez: Responses
Kells: No, no, please stay seated, I’ll only interrupt for a moment. I wanted to come find you. I’ve never seen the marine deck, or not for long.
Teller: I think you’ll find their esprit de corps in full display, sir. Perhaps you folks would point out a few of the highlights.
Singh / Henderson / Rodriguez: Responses
Aron made a show of glancing around at the mess hall and the features indicated, but he suspected that they and he knew that, well, a mess hall was a mess hall.
Kells: I searched out you three specifically for your integral role in the previous mission. Even if there were (beat) some mishaps…
He grinned briefly at the two lieutenants. He’d read in the report that they had lost their craft during the mission’s final stage.
Kells: ...you still showed courage and dedication in the finest traditions of both marine service and your posts on the Thor. I’m recognizing each of you with the Joint Meritorious Unit Award.
He and Geoff shared around three ribbons of the same design he’d presented to Commander Garcia back at Hammer’s Alley.
Teller: Congratulations to you all - you were instrumental not only in taking down that installation, but in the safe return of Captain Kells to the ship when he’d been grievously injured. You have my sincerest personal thanks.

Kells: Exactly so. I’ll have to visit more often. (with a wink) Maybe Commander Teller can start doing shows.

With the marines laughing behind them, Aron and Geoff continued on their way, back to the turbolift and then to the deck below.
