(( Wilkins’ Quarters, Deck 6, USS Thor ))

The sonic shower was letting out a low hum as stream rose up getting Tara’s body slightly damp. She closed her eyes, enjoying the sensation of the vibrations relaxing her shoulders. It has been a grueling past few hours. The sonic shower was just the beginning of what she had planned during the downtime at Deep Space Nine. She hadn’t left the Thor since it was on its first mission. Unless you want to count the spacewalk she had, but she didn’t consider that to be away from the ship.

Wilkins: Computer, stop sonic shower.

The humming started to fade away as she put a white robe on and stepped out. As much as she wanted to go down to Bajor and enjoy some air that hasn’t be recycled, she had to make an entry into her logs.

She retrieved her epidellic lotion from one of the drawers of her desk. She applied some of it on her hands and then on her checks and forehead. It would keep her skin from drying out. She sat the bottle down and looked at it. It was a gift from her mother after she left to go to Princeton. Her mother might be pushy when it came to getting joined, but that didn’t mean she didn’t love her at all. If anything, she always wanted the best for Tara.

She picked up a PADD and looked over her last entry that she made. It seemed like a lifetime ago, but actually it was just a few days ago. She let out a soft sigh. She was never sure what to say in these recordings, but it was Starfleet requirements for all officers to keep a personal log.

Wilkins: Computer begin recording.

The slight beeped sound acknowledged that the recording was started. She glanced over towards the other berth that was connect to her own. They belonged to Alieth. She was certain that she was not there. Not that her logs were too personal. She just felt uncomfortable if someone was listening in on her.

Wilkins: Tara Wilkins’ personal logs, stardate 239708.18. I never know what to say in these things. I mean how personal am I suppose to be? I should ask others what they put in their logs. We were hit by something that tore apart the port side of the USS Thor. I was in the science lab and I could feel it. Sensors were down so we couldn’t get an accurate reading of what just hit us. The XO, who was commanding at the time, ordered me to rig up some EVA suits. I really have no idea about engineering type of stuff, but I was going to try the best that I could.

Tara got up from the chair at her desk and walked over to the mirror that she was using as a vanity mirror. It really was designed for men to shave. The Thor had to have been designed by men. She had to be creative to make this feel like her place. Yet, she guess that was true for everyone.

She picked up some eyeliner and began to apply it under her eyes as she continued her report.

Wilkins: There was some type of biomass that lodged itself in the side of the ship. Medical couldn’t make a determination of what it was. Beginning a science officer my first thought was that it was biologically engineered to be used as a weapon. I’ll have to ask Emond what she discovered about the biomass. She was better equipped for handling research on it then I was.

Tara moved the eyeliner to the top of her eyes over her eyelash.

Wilkins: Command had me back up in the bridge again. I don’t know why but I always get so uncomfortable when I’m there. I guess with all the big brass make me uneasy. I did have some great bonding time with Captain Kells as we observed gormaganders. I think he was impressed with my knowledge of them. Yet, I don’t know if my performance is being satisfactory for him during our encounters.

She looked at herself in the mirror and was satisfied with how she applied the makeup. She then started to apply some mascara to complete the look.

Wilkins: I have always been tough on myself. Always setting high standards. I might get that from my mother. I always have to be the best in everything that I do. I should talk to the CSO and get his impression on my performance. It would be better than having to guess how I’m doing and constantly worrying about it.

Tara wasn’t sure if her personal log should be taking this approach. She was just talking from the top of her head. Was it too personal or not personal enough.

Wilkins: Computer, end recording.

Tara walked over to the replicator to get a fresh change of clothes. Something stylish but comfortable. She was looking forward to her time on Bajor. She’s never been there before.
