((Main Security, Deck 4, USS Thor))
Ensign Vharo sat staring at grainy photos, subspace surface scans and the small mountain of AAR's strewn across her desk. Only a few weeks prior her concerns were mundane now she was halfway across the galaxy staring down a threat she needed to understand and quickly, so much for easing into it. The woman raised her hand to her face, rubbing her brow as she spared a thought for a particular Vulcan and Human far from here, quietly hoping that the latter hadn't driven the former to insanity in her absence. A quiet sigh coupled with a small smile left the woman as she finally broke her concentration and shifted back in her chair, glancing instead at the mess of short-hand laid bare on her notepad. It was not quite everything she would've wanted in a brief but for the sake of her new home it was the best she had on hand, at least it was a respite from watching over the Puritas survivors, her patience for their stares and whispers had been worn thin. A shrill ring tore the Ensign's attention from her notepad, her arm moving slightly to inspect the battered watch as it chirped at her, loudly reminding her that she was in fact out of time. Gathering up her stack of photos and notepad, she made for the door all the while pushing errant strands of red hair back into her bun before stepping out in the direction of the elevator.
((Main Engineering, Deck 18, USS Thor))
Vharo ran through her checklist over and over again in her mind as she descended down, stepping clear of the elevator as it finished its journey and finally deposited her within the engineering space. Letting out a soft exhale to regain her composure she took off once more, sparing a glance and a nod to the handful of enlisted engineers that noticed her as she passed though occupied as they likely were she didn't feel the need to say anything, instead continuing to carefully weave her way through the deck towards the main system console and hopefully the Chief Engineer.
Caras: Funny you bring that up, I have asked Security for information on the facilities that they use in order to manufacture these weapons. Thor was able to find a handful of small sites. Ensign, you’re just in time to join us. What information do you have on the planetside shipyard used to build Nova Terra’s star ships?
Vharo stopped just short of the group of officers, regarding them for a short moment to make sure she was in fact in the right place before stepping forward. Her gaze quickly stopped on the Chief Engineer as she folded her hands behind her back, another Orion was quite peculiar indeed. An oddity that her first assignment would be alongside another one of her kind, she could likely count on her fingers how many of them there were in Starfleet. For the briefest of moments she wondered what could've possibly brought him to Starfleet, alas a question for another time. She instead opted to return the curt nod before starting.
Vharo: It would be easier to show you, Lieutenant. ::The woman's hand shifted towards the table, sectioning off a piece she as laid out a series of grainy photos and subspace scans.:: Now the NT shipyard is several hundred kilometers outside capital, two hundred and eight if you want a exact number, as you can see it's sandwiched in the valley with the entrance to the valley blocked off. ::Vharo circled two thin walls with a finger, clearly a gate and wall.:: Now, they may be technologically inferior but they are partially able to shield from the scans based on the ones I have on file however I've confirmed at least the main fabrication wing and the facilities office and engineering space. ::She circled one of two larger buildings alongside a smaller one.:: Based on the surface scans, there is more to the complex built into the valley wall and floor how much and the complexity is unfortunately seemingly obscured by surface interference.
Caras: That could be something. Perhaps there is a reason they chose that location to build and assemble these weapons onto the ships. That might indicate either a limited or volatile resource.
Vharo: If what was said in the AAR's was accurate and the NT government is strictly controlling the flow of the information then building your shipyard far outside the city isn't that odd. The adverse location increases security as it separates both the workers and the civilians from each other, making information and material control much easier as well. I'll also lend some credence to the volatile resource theory, based on the scans I was given from the science department it is clear that something within the the underground section of the facility is giving off a large amount of energy, traces of it are spiking above ground in the fabrication wing and what I can only assume are transport vehicles moving back and forth between the shipyard.
Vharo exhaled slowly, gathering her thoughts as she glanced around the room allowing her information to settle as she replayed her own speech to make sure she hadn't missed anything important.
Caras: Right, and if we can cut them off from their resources, or find a weakness in it, we can at least stop the manufacture of these weapons, maybe even find an exploit in them in order to neutralize them.
Vharo: A weakness in the resource is more likely to succeed then cutting them off completely in my opinion, the former requires a much softer hand in most cases. I would presume that they are only storing the material at the shipyard for immediate use and it doesn't infact originate from there, the transport vehicles displaying traces likely move it from one location to another. If we could locate even a small sample I trust Engineering and Science staff could uncover something more substantial in the realm of problem solving. However in such cases you would be more knowledgeable than I in regards to the purely technical aspects.
Vharo stepped back from the table, folding her hands behind her back as she watched and waited. Her gaze occasionally flicked between the gathered officers as she pressed a finger against her watch face, the inaudible ticking steadying her rapidly rising nerves. She hated the deep end they'd tossed her in but she was an officer now and couldn't afford to forget how to swim.
Ral/Caras: Response.
