Lieutenant Morro Caras and his accompanying officers were still in the thick of a melee but were currently taking a break from the fray and trying to rally and come up with a plan to take down their three assailants. Now they were coming at them fully armed. It was still like a wrestling match to Morro Caras, but now it was more like a No disqualification or last man standing match, and Caras wasn’t ready to take the level up the bumps needed for that kind of match. His attempt at playful violence seemed like it was over. At the moment they only had bumps and bruises, but now it seemed like they could really take some real damage. The conclusion was reached that they had had their fun and now it was time to break and make a break for it.

Caras: Well… That’s going to complicate things… are you all still in for it? We might have to improvise….

Caras shook his head to psyche himself up. They would have to go in with absolute confidence. If they flinched, they’d be facing down, getting choked with the truncheon, taking knuckles to the gut, or the bar stool to the dome.

Promontory: I have an idea, get ready!.

Caras didn’t know what he was in for but he trusted Avander. Avander slid over to the Ferengi that they had first knocked out and Avander picked up the rest of his uniform.

Ross: On your call, Commander.

Caras was also bolstered to hear a similar sentiment from Ross, who had seemingly gotten the worse of this bout. It seemed his nose had stopped bleeding at least, but he still knew the sensitivity his nose would carry. It was now a giant weak spot.

Caras: Whatever it is, you know I’m in.

The others looked like they were about to enact their own plan as well.

Skrreean: Now!

They moved in their own formation with the three Starfleet officers, spreading out and attempting to get full coverage of them.

Avander then let loose a battery of heavy tokens that had been kept in his jacket. A lot of them were high value tokens, they hadn’t been playing just a light game. And that got the crowd's attention.

Promontory: (shouting) Take what you can get!

The assaulting three had been so prepared to face what was in front of them, that they hadn’t managed to cover themselves from behind in their formation approaching the Starfleet officers. And they paid for it.

Ross: Ready?!

Their opposition was caught off balance. The Karemma was flat out trampled. The Larger spud was pushed off balance and dropped his Chair. The  Skrreean had to move to adjust her position, also breaking the formation. They had a clear opening.

Caras: Steady…

Caras drew out his call. It wasn’t the right time to leap in yet. There would be a period where people would dive for the coins, once people were actually on the ground they could make their escape nearly over the top of them.

The commotion rose to a clamor, but as soon as people had coins in their hands and there were enough of them, it was clear.

Promontory: Go now!

Caras moved forward towards the ‘tater shaped assailant. Now that he had lost his weapon he’d be a lot easier to contend with and a lot easier to get him to chase.

Caras saw the Skrreean get a near miss on Ross, but Caras lost where Avander had gone. They moved to the slots with the hunters, stepping where they could, their pursuers unable to keep up with them at a tight pace, which suited their needs.

Ross: Brace for impact, Lieutenant!

Caras was ready, he went tense for a moment, to brace for impact, getting ready to do a mat fall. Ross deftly shoved Caras into one of the hunters. Caras was ready to take the impact of hitting the floor after, but then he was quickly caught by Ross, slingshotting back him momentum up into a jog.

The Hunter had just collected some kind of winnings and promptly dropped them onto the floor. Causing his winnings to scatter. He let out a call of fury that was swallowed by the crowd. Apparently the hunters were some of the few allowed weapons, because this hunter pulled one just as the Skrreea approached causing the hunter and the Skrreea; both incented to clash.

Promontory: Response

Caras: We still have more on our tail!

Caras hadn’t had the opportunity to look back, but he then heard a cacophony of noises and was almost afraid to

UGQA: I’ll get you for this Starbleet

Starbleet? Sounded like a little league Parrises squares team, and Morro Caras wasn’t going to correct him at all. He could go after Starbleet all he wanted.

Ross snapped Morro’s attention back to the present.

Ross: Just go! Don't look back!

Caras trusted Ross on this one, and stepped out of his own head and just ran. When they made it to the doors of the Casino. Caras waited a moment until Avander came through and closed the entrance they were at. Leaning and resting his back on what seemed like a recently and hastily replicated door.

Caras was panting but only a little. Maybe his recent trials in the gym were paying off. He had been having fun, and no one had been seriously hurt, at least from what he had seen. It had been… fun. Caras didn’t regret anything that he had done, at least not right off of the bat.

Ross let out a groan.

Ross: ...please don't tell me you do this every other Tuesday?

Caras tried to keep himself from laughing.

Caras: More like the first Tuesday of the month. ::laughing::...

Caras had definitely had his fair share of going places that he shouldn’t be going to as a Starfleet officer, and that was kind of the fun of it.

Promontory: response

Morro couldn’t not agree more. He was exhausted, but it would be a night he soon wouldn’t forget.

((Short Timeskip))

((Medbay, Deep Space 14))

A bit later in the evening, the three officers found themselves back in the caring arms of the federation.

Caras was glad to be treated in the medical facility on DS14 as opposed to on the Thor where his antics would become a possible target for his girlfriend. The head of health. Luckily here he could cool off, get some treatment and relax about hearing about the consequences, at least immediately. He didn’t keep anything from Sevantha, but there were things that he would strategically forget until the right time.

Medical Officer: ...how do you say this happened?

Ross: Uhh...

Ross threw a dubious look to the two other officers. Caras had danced around these things before, but he figured he’d let the most senior officer speak for them.

Promontory: Response

Caras could roll with that.

Caras: Gaming and or sporting is a tough industry, we were just seeing what professional expertise Starfleet could bring to it. There are a lot of factors on this station and we just needed to address all of them.

Now it was the Medical officer’s time to look dubiously at Caras.

Medical Officer: ... I’m sure

Her dry tone permeated the room.

Ross/Promontory: Response

She wasn’t really buying it but she didn’t really seem like she was going to argue.

Medical Officer: ... And this mark right here? Just another over friendly species from the gamma quadrant?

Caras: An accident I’m sure. I’ve been tasked with remedial diplomacy and I'm still really learning to take my lumps, with some species it’s actually literally and figuratively.

Always mix in a large amount of other truths with your obfuscations, it always makes it a little easier to swallow for others, and now Morro was making another game of it.

Ross/Promontory: Response

Medical Officer: And your conclusion?

Caras: We’ve determined that Starfleet is probably better off only intervening in such areas if we can provide a net benefit. I think that I've learned a lot from this experience.

The medical officer rolled her eyes at Caras’s response.

Medical Officer: I was actually talking to the nurse, about his … bruises.

a nurse nodded and held up a PADD for the medical officer.

Ross/Promontory/Others: Response

Caras wasn’t sure how to approach the question from the other Medbay staff.

Caras: I’m not sure. Commander, what do you think?

Ross/Promontory: Response
