Captain Raeyen IV - Dr. Ahreka Chalet

Raeyen IV had just finished obtaining security clearance for the USS Thor's research team to land within the small village. She still had reservations regarding their introduction to their village, they all had a lot of questions, uncomfortable ones that she wasn’t sure her people were ready to handle. Those left after the other team had taken their doctors were primarily biologists, agriculturists, and their security teams. A research facility that had practically become a nature reserve, with small experiments still in practice.
DeVeau: Raeyen, how long ago did you say your people had to start doing the genetic experiments here on the moon?
Raeyen IV: We arrived thirty years ago. ::Considers:: The genetic experiments began shortly after on infected and uninfected livestock, 2-3 years after the facility’s construction finished.
Nera/Tam: Response
It was rather a matter-of-fact response, and she didn’t appear any wiser to Alora’s discovery. Instead, she studied the shuttle’s equipment and landing prospects that were least disruptive to their ecosystem yet without risk of drawing too much attention.
DeVeau: And….when you did these experiments, you were trying to find cures for that virus as well as improving livestock?
Raeyen IV: Yes, resistances to Nova Terran born viruses, and then those found on Selene. ::fidgeting with her own gear:: Then some experiments to enhance the nutritional value of certain creatures.
Then came a cascade of other experiments she hadn’t been exactly privy to during her surface. Raeyen also spoke of the matter to the trio as if she had been there herself.
Nera/Tam: Response
DeVeau: Did they ever do any experiments on…humans?
Nera/Tam: Response.
She did not immediately answer. Instead, Raeyen stared at the map as she considered exactly how to answer that question. Earlier she had mentioned the scientist who had gone beyond, but she had left out details, his obsession with Adam Soong’s notes.
Raeyen IV: Yes…
DeVeau/Nera/Tam: Response
Raeyen IV: One of the viruses evolved and spread to the crew, it killed our lead scientist and infected half of the population. ::She explained:: That’s when Dr. Ahreka Chalet took over and the studies on people began.
DeVeau/Nera/Tam: Response
Maybe it had been a mistake to speak, but it was too late to hide it now, and there were going to be some very obvious tells when they went to the village. Suspicion rose regarding what their equipment might have revealed, and inwardly she cursed herself for being so compliant in being treated.
Raeyen IV: …I don’t remember much else of the time, I’d been infected... ::taking a moment:: ...and one of the first casualties.
