(( Outside Docking Port 2, Deck 6, Main Compartment, DS33 ))

Raga: Eyes and Ears ::He announced to let those around him know they should close their eyes and cover their ears::

The momentary lull of silence from the bottleneck the EMP had gone off, resumed as those caught in it were reinforced with fresh troops from the docking port. Toryn leveled his SOSAR and squeezed the lower of the two triggers. A slight kick that didn’t even cause the stocky Al-Leyan to budge preceded the flash grenade that dislodged from the launcher of his rifle. A Sheliak stepped through the fading haze from the earlier explosion and caught the munition with his chin in an oddly satisfying THUNK

An instant later the grenade detonated in a six meter radius of blinding light and cacophonous sounds. He wasn’t sure about the Tholian’s exo suits, but the Sheliak should be particularly averse to the sonic waves that emanated from the non-lethal round.

T’Fearne: Let’s keep a close watch on the impact of these stun grenades. The reduction in their numbers suggests they might be vulnerable to this.

Kiran: ::stroking his chin::That's a good idea, and those EMPs are bringing down the exo suits pretty well. However, I’ve only got one left, and I plan on saving it for the right time. I do have a couple of thermoplastic grenades that could be used to herd them in another direction.

Valo: A sharp nod:: Good thinking. ::He meant it.:

As soon as he was ducked behind the barricade once more he pulled a replacement from the pouch on his belt at his back and reloaded the launcher with another such flash bang.

Raga: As long as those inhibitors do their job they can’t beam into this section. Which means that bottleneck is our friend, their numbers are ineffective as long as they can’t get more than a handful through at a time.

He again leaned over the barricade and peppered the bottleneck with pulse phaser fire, in such a narrow funnel the volume of shots was more valuable than accuracy. That was about the only good thing about being outnumbered by an opposing force, you could shoot just about anywhere and be guaranteed to hit one of them.

T’Fearne:::finding a clear angle:: I’ve got a good line of sight. Engaging now.

Briza-Kar: Direct your fire to the edge of the corridor; that way, they won’t be able to hide from our shots. I can pick them off. Easy.

They continued to hold the line with Breeze repeatedly knocking the legs out from under the Tholians in an almost comical manner.

Kiran: I think the Tholians have access to the station's environmental controls because I don’t know about you, but it’s getting damn hot in here.

Toryn noted he felt a bit warmer as well, but that wasn’t uncommon in the proverbial heat of battle.

Valo: response

An intense barrage of disruptor fire forced him down behind the barricade. Their fight had only just begun. At best estimate the Ronin and Khitomer were what, ten, fifteen hours away. They had to prolong this siege as long as they could. The ground shook and caused him to slide a little before he put his back against the barricade again.

The station’s lights flickered all around them and he glanced at the bracer again. DS33 was taking a beating yet despite that and her pathetic defenses the shields were holding. If barely. Still, that last hit was closer to their position than he’d like.

Raga: Another transport just docked at port two, but we’re holding port one. Looks like they're concentrating their forces here, trying to break through. Keep laying down fire. ::He looked at everyone briefly:: This is a siege, not a skirmish. Five up and firing, give the others a chance to breathe. Swap out between waves and everyone fires when they push hard. Understood?

T’Fearne: Sir.

Briza-Kar: Yes, sir.

Kiran: Aye, aye, Commander.

Valo: Got it.

As if calling back to Valo’s earlier statement about morale and perfectly received he noticed the communication broadcast throughout the sector and played it through his Bracer for the dozens around him fighting hard to hear. Interference caused part of it to cut out but the important bits could clearly be heard.

Niac: =/\= Ronin to All Federation Outposts and Installations in sector A113. We are coming. *static* We will not abandon you.  For your tomorrows...we give our todays.  Ronin Out. =/\=

Raga: Our friends, our family are coming for us. I don’t know about you, but I intend to be here when they arrive.

T’Fearne: We’ll hold the line. Every second we buy them gives a better chance to get to us.

Kiran: I agree, Ensign. ::announcing to the group:: Ears people, ears.

Another thermoplastic grenade was then lobbed over the barricade by the Chief, so Toryn covered his ears.

WHUMP!

It ejected the thermoplastic substance onto a turbolift door, effectively sealing off that egress point. Blocking its access to both groups at least for the time being, though he doubted it would hold like that under determined efforts.

Valo: response

Raga: Nice throw, Chief.

T’Fearne: The physical detonations don’t seem to faze them much. :: Shouting over the noise:: But the stun grenades… Do we have any intel on their weaknesses? I’d even settle for an allergy at this point.

Kiran: ::turning to T’Fearne:: They’re both silicone based lifeforms. Most of our usual methods aren’t working; we’re taking them out slowly. Damn the Prophets! I should have brought more grenades.

Raga: I believe we still have plans for some sonic based devices from the Chin’toka that might be effective. I believe they were called shriekers. They used an intense and brief audible discharge.

Valo: I don’t know about allergies, but they certainly seem to find us to be irritants.

Briza-Kar: Shooting them in the head seems to work.

Toryn easily heard the snap of the enemy’s neck when their Kzinti shot it in the head and glanced in his direction as he commented on his efforts.

Briza-Kar: I’m Breeze. I like guns.

Toryn nodded. He could emphasize with that sentiment as a lifelong protector and member of the Security and Tactical Prote’s. He was also grateful that the big feline was on their side.

T’Fearne: Can we play something through the station’s announcement system? Maybe a sound or frequency they’d dislike, be confused by… or even one they might be attracted to?

The Al-Leyan looked at their new Ensign with a brow raised. It was a solid suggestion and would be worth looking into. He could even shot the suggestion up to the Commander Center and see if Stergis could implement it as they had their hands full already.

Valo: Are there any mobile holographic emitters we have access to? Even visual stimuli they might respond to?

Kiran: ::checking gear belt:: Sorry, there are no holo emitters here. Great idea, though. ::turning his head to the XO:: Commander, I'm sure you’ve got thoughts on this.

Raga: Sadly we do not, but we do have several portable force field emitters. If we can block off that corridor it’ll buy us time. We can have them deployed here to shore up the defenses, assuming we can hold this position.

T’Fearne: Response

Briza-Kar: Anything is worth a try.

Valo: There’s a bulkhead just over the corridor, it looks like it was damaged in the explosion. If we can give it just a bit more coaxing, it could block their advance. Maybe not for long but, it could buy us time. ::He looked to Kiran and offered a mischievous smile:: What do you think, old man?

Kiran: ::turning to Valo:: I like where your head is at, kid. A couple of three-round bursts should bring it down and provide some cover. What do you think, commander? Bring down the bulkhead around their ears? Well if they have ears…

Raga: I concur with the Chief’s sentiment. Good eye, Ensign. ::He turned to Kiran:: Yes. We can wait until their next push and drop it on them for a bit of a psychological impact.

T’Fearne: Response

Briza-Kar: Looks like they may have tired of being the target in practice? :: nods towards them :: They’re setting up a defensive position for now. Or plotting their next move.

Breeze was right; they had been setting up a beachhead. Which meant they might not be making a push any time soon. That was good. They’d have to regroup and that would let their people shore up their own lines as well. The sound of something caught his attention and he looked over to see Breeze poking at a Tholian’s carapace. It looked as though it had exploded, but nothing they’d just employed during the fighting could have caused that to happen.

Kiran: ::mostly to himself, running a hand through his salt and pepper hair:: No one told me Tholians explode, I mean…? They were nasty alive, but even more so after death,

He nodded sagely in agreement. That would add an extra layer of danger for everyone defending the station. He quickly sent out an alert via his bracer to inform everyone on the station that the Tholians exploded with a several meter radius, based on what he could tell from the blast scoring around the body.

Raga: It’s unexpected, and will make them even more dangerous in close quarters. So everyone be mindful when you’re fighting them hand to hand. ::He looked at them all:: We’re falling back to the FOP for now. I doubt this lull will last for long.

Valo/T’Fearne: response

The Al-Leyan glanced down the corridor to see the LA forces setting up their own defenses and a brief check of the internal sensors confirmed as much. They were setting up their own beachhead in the entrance vestibule.

Toryn issued orders to those units he ordered to hold this beachhead to drop the bulkhead door the moment the Tholians or Sheliak attempted another push and redirected another one of the QRT teams to bring some portable force field emitters to both beachheads they held within the vestibule.

For now they needed to regroup themselves and reassess the tactical situation. The station jostled again from the battle that waged outside and he truly hoped the winds would bring the Ronin and Khitomer swiftly and soon.

((ooc: Going to post another sim in the morning pushing the station crew into Act II. Was going to try and get it out tonight but the sandman seems insistent that I sleep.))
