((Maintenance Bay, Posterior Dorsal, Narhelion))

Within a few moments, it seemed like the tide had turned - Narhelion was growing the 'space baby', as it had been dubbed, there were no boarders to be seen, and shockingly, Xilva's ankle wasn't broken (and enough of the damage was repaired that she could walk, although she'd make a note to drop by and get the rest of it healed once they were back onboard the ship.)

It all made her think. This wasn't something that Xilva was supposed to see, ever - not someone whose metrics read less-than-satisfactory when it came to away missions that weren't simple. Safe. Invader-free. And yet, through whatever strange backroom bartering that happened when it came to fresh graduates - someone had apparently said, 'how about we roll the dice on this one?'

She brushed away the small voice inside that said, 'aren't you glad that they did?'

(The answer was no, of course. The answer had to be no. This was not in the plan.)

Instead, her mind was full of questions. The other lieutenant - Velis, Xilva thought her name was - seemed to know more about ancient Trill technology than she let on, and it was something that she'd have to ask about later. Ancient music and tech were truly her archaeology weaknesses; she could spend days holed up, happily trying to solve ancient mysteries. Narhelion was definitely one of them - and her child? How was this forming?

Dohna: ::looking up at the growing ship or rather lifeform:: May your journey be free of incident.

Akani: May your path be clear and calm.

A near-smile appeared on Xilva's face, and she ducked behind her console before she silently offered the last line of the old Bajoran blessing.

oO May your steps leave light for those who follow. Oo

Marsek: =/\= Marsek to Commander Raga. Sir, we've discovered Narhelion's maintenance bay and the source of the power drain. She's--she's diverting power to create a new cosmozoan. =/\=

De La Croix: Oh don't forget to mention Commander Kel. I assume he's around here somewhere....and...oh...

There was a chirp from someone's tricorder. Xilva checked both of hers - shockingly, neither were going haywire. The last thing she needed was a second broken tricorder. A quick glance around the room revealed a sea of confused faces - who did it belong to?

De La Croix: Did you happen to lose anyone else? There seems to be humanoid lifesigns over there.

Dohna: My team was scattered earlier, perhaps it's one of them.

Wren: We still have someone unaccounted for, but-

Akani: It could be them, then…

Raga: Responses

Velis: It's a nursery.

De La Croix: Oh look, I seem to have found Beckie.

oO...Beckie? Am I supposed to know who that is? I'm glad he was found! Oo

De La Croix: And he isn't even dead. Will miracles never cease.

Dohna: Not as long as the Prophets watch over us doctor.

Wren: ::Softly:: Thank you, Narhelion….

Akani: ::whispering:: Thank the Prophets and Narhelion…

Xilva absently fiddled with the blue charm on her d'ja pagh - she had only started wearing it right before she started at the Academy, and preferred to keep her observances quiet. She felt strangely jealous of the other two Bajorans - but she supposed if she had grown up on Bajor, she may have been the same way.

Raga: Responses

Velis: That's...actually kind of incredible. ::grins:: Terrifying. Complicated. Possibly a nightmare from an engineering perspective. ::glances at Dohna:: But incredible.

Dohna: ::looking at Velis:: We should take as much data as possible. I feel Commander Kel would be sorry he missed this.

De La Croix: Much as I'd like to take this opportunity to remove that vile mustache, we should probably focus on Commander Kel.

Akani: As far as I know, he wasn't injured after he fell unconscious. He still has injuries from before that, though.

Marsek: ::gets up to start scanning as much as she can of the baby Narhelion:: ...This definitely is a nightmare, engineering-wise. All these different constructions! ::pauses:: As for Commander Kel, we carried him until Narhelion created that biobed, so that should reduce the possibility of leg and shoulder injuries - the phaser injuries are far more pressing.

Raga: Response

Velis: ::sighs:: =/\= All right, Commander. Now what? =/\=

Raga: Response

De La Croix: Did he say we're diving towards the fissure? I seem to remember it being a point earlier that the fissure would most certainly kill us all...most thoroughly.

Wren: ::a little panicked:: Is the Ronin in any shape to go through it?? Who’s in charge of engineering, is it Nakada? Is he any good??

Akani: I don't know…

Marsek: When I was on the ship earlier, we noticed that Narhelion has a strong, protective tractor beam. She's probably using the same one to move it through the fissure. I don't think she'd put Tiny Predator at risk.

Dohna: Perhaps not Doctor De La Croix. You never know what the Prophets have in store.

No, this was not part of the plan - there were hard questions to ask, and even harder answers to hear. Xilva would spend as long as possible trying to avoid them. There was so much that needed to be done - solving the mystery of the identity of these ancient Caretakers, how on earth Narhelion had learned all of these old ship designs, and just how they'd get out of there without alerting the Lattice Alliance.

Her wants could wait. For now, she wanted to be there, to witness this birth, and perhaps find the courage to speak up.

Xilva had signed on for something reliable and stable - but with time, with this unusual team - perhaps she'd enjoy the adventure.
