She was meant to be monitoring the warp core.  Given the strangeness of the situation, there was always concern that the system that powered the ship could be compromised.  So far everything seemed fine, but there were anomalous readings.  Nothing that threw up alarms, but thing seemed just a bit off.  T'Alia was trying to track down the problem, but she was distracted.

Dohna: Raka-ja ut shala morala... ema bo roo kana... uranak... ralanon Niac... propeh va nara ehsuk shala-kan vunek...

Given what had happened on the Compass Rose T'Alia had been keen to settle in on the larger, more modern, Akira-class ship.  She had enjoyed getting to know the ship, until today.  Word had come down that both the Captain and the First officer had been killed.  A frightening prospect that T'Alia had already experienced once.  The being currently in command was called V'Len Kel.  He had discovered her on the Rose and gotten her help.  She did not know him well, but if he had boarded a plague ship, he did not shrink back from danger.

Dohna: Raka-ja ut shala morala... ema bo roo kana... uranak... ralanon Raga... propeh va nara ehsuk shala-kan vunek…

The problem was not in the warp system in any particular components.  There was a system that checked subspace prior to initiating a warp field.  That system seemed to be getting tripped as if there was a problem with subspace, but no specifics had come back.  Apparently she was not fated by the Prophets to solve that mystery today.

Wren: Deck 10, please. =/\= Ensign Wren to Lieutenant Dohna, I need some help in deck 10, I’m taking a look at the probes we sent out.=/\=

T'Alia stepped back from the LCARs display.

Dohna:  =/\= Understood Ensign. I am on my way. =/\=

She still didn't like the idea of leaving the warp core problem open.

Dogna: =/\= Lt. Dohna to Lt. Morgan.  Please meet me in the Torpedo and Probe bay on deck 10.=/\=

((Deck 10, Torpedo and Probe bays, USS Ronin))

Dohna: ::walking into the bay::  How are you progressing Ensign Wren.

T'Alia had not actually met Ensign Wren in any meaningful way.  At this point she knew few people on the ship save for Dominika Ślimak and Akani Xira who were also survivors of the Compass Rose.

Wren: I see... I guess it’s never the first idea, is it? ::looking at her readings::.... That… doesn’t seem right.

T'Alia peaked over Wren shoulder to regard the data.  My any reasonable standards it made little sense.  The probes just beyond her appeared decidedly worse for wear.  If T'Alia didn't know better she would have thought the probes had been in an asteroid field for most of the harvest season.

Wren: I think it would be best if we popped these things open to see if there’s any internal damage. Have they been decontaminated already?

T'Alia began walking toward one of the side terminals.

Dohna: It is hardly ever the first idea, but it is always the last idea that solves a problem. ::regarding the display::  Decontamination is complete.

Wren: Understood, lieutenant.

Dohna: :: opening a storage locker::  Here are some tools that should prove useful.

The ensign was very determined and worked strenuously to get on the the probes in an upright position.  T'Alia decided it would be better not to mention the automated lift system.   The ensign tapped a series of commands to open the probe, but much more happened.  The entire panel crashed to the floor making a sound that echoed in through the bay.   T'Alia jumped despite herself.

Wren: ::Uneasy:: When did these probes last undergo maintenance?

Dohna: ::moving back to an LCARs terminal::  Stardate 240212.24.  I believe the Terrans would say Christmas Eve.  All systems were normal.

Wren: oO That’s what I thought. Oo The interior of mine has completely corroded. I’ve never seen damage like this before, it looks like it’s a hundred years old. It’s incredible this made it back at all.

T'Alia knelt down next to the other probe and once again used the tool to open the casing.  Given it was still horizontal, the lid did not fall off, but the bolts that came out were decidedly brown discolored.  She removed the dented panel and set it aside.  As in Wren's probe, hers seemed to be deteriorated much more than one would have expected.

Dohna: Mine is in a similar state.

T'Alia moved once more to the console and plugged a long cable from the probe into the consoles port.  The system began to download information. As she did she heard the doors open behind her.  It was Rachel Morgan another engineer.

Dohna:  This will take some time to analyze. ::turning to Rachel::  Thank you for coming Lieutenant.  ::handing her a padd::  The warp core is acting strangely.  It seems as if the system will not itiniate because it believes there is a problem entering subspace.

Morgan/Wren: Response

Dohna:  What I can see is that probe's the chronometer is no longer synced to the Ronin's.  The probe has experienced a time dilation, a significant one.

Morgan/Wren: Response

T'Alia scanned the information coming in with her eyes.

Dohna:  There is more.  The probe seems to have encountered some kind of subspace anomaly.  You can see these ribbon like structures here.

T'Alia pointed to the screen where the probe seemed to be detecting several twisting ribbons which were detectable across several EM wavelengths.

Morgan/Wren: Response

Dohna:  It could explain the problems with the warp core.

Morgan/Wren: Response
