((OOC: I had already written most of this scene before Kessler's sim, timing might be a bit wobbly. I will respond to Kessler tags tomorrow hopefully.)) ((Security Complex, Deck 11, USS Ronin))

With a quick shower and back in uniform, Lt. T’Fearne shook off the distractions of Lolagi IV. Making her way swiftly to the Security complex. By the time she arrived, the air was already charged with a hum of anticipation.

Golden-shouldered officers gathered in greater numbers than usual. Chatter, speculation and workplace conversations overlapped through space. T’Fearne noted Lt. Frost and Chief Rork, seemingly running inventory and coordinating drills. She wasn’t sure if they were supposed to be on duty, but it seemed like a lot more people were hanging around the complex than were normally on duty.  An emergency recall had the potential for anything and security, collectively, waited and watched with expectation as they charged their proverbial phasers.

She moved through the Security Complex with efficiency, performing her own checks and readied her station. Pulled up various status displays, the Vulcazoid started several preliminary analyses once she tracked the ship’s trajectory and was aimed near Lattice Alliance and Consortium controlled space. She ducked into the armory to ready and check her equipment and weapons just in case she was called upon for an away team. Nothing was beneath her attention at this moment and a prepared and calm security department was a formidable obstacle.

Her gaze lifted as unfamiliar presence entered the central security operations area that Kessler referred to as a “bool-pen”, which confused her as it resembled neither a “pen”, nor did she know what a “bool” was.

Looking at the fresh faced Vulcanoid, she wondered if it was an engineering officer that she wasn’t familiar with yet? But they carried themself with a poise that spoke of combat training. She grabbed a PADD and approached the sight-seeing officer.

T'Fearne: Are you lost, Ensign…?

S’tek: Response

She inclined her head slightly, taking in the small details of his uniform,  posture and the way he looked around, noting things in the environment like he was drinking it in. It was more subtle than a full human, but T’Fearne was familiar with Vulcanoid expressions. And this officer appeared half Vulcan, like herself.

T'Fearne: ::nodding:: Ensign S’tek. The Ronin is your first assignment out of the academy? :: A slight, fond twinkle in her dark eyes :: The Ronin is my first duty post also.

S’tek: Response

She accepted the offered PADD, stacking it on top of her own, scanning his orders quickly before returning it.

At that moment, their comms chirped in unison.

Kessler: =/\= Kessler to Lieutenant T'Fearne, Ensign S'tek. Report to the Security Complex immediately. =/\=

T'Fearne: ::tapping her comm:: =/\= Acknowledged, Chief. =/\=

With a slightly raised eyebrow, T’Fearne looked back at the ensign in question.

T'Fearne: As it happens, I am Lieutenant T’Fearne. You are with me, Mr S’tek, until Chief Kessler arrives.

She turned, already moving, expecting him to keep up.

T'Fearne: ::continuing to walk and talk:: He is the department CO and you can present him with your orders confirming transfer to this department. Until then, I would prefer you not wander unsupervised until you get your bearings. Your arrival comes at an… interesting time. We have just transferred some mission specialists onboard. I anticipate a department briefing shortly. Until then—observe, assist where directed, and familiarize yourself with the Ronin’s specs. Any questions?

S’tek: Response

She reached her console and gestured to the station beside it. Indicating for the Ensign to dig in and start familiarising themself with the Akira-class battle cruiser.

T'Fearne: Your tour of the ship will have to wait till later. Or it might be sooner. That depends if we get boarded during this mission.

A faint trace of sardonic humour laced her tone. She wasn’t sure if the Vulcanoid would pick it up or not.

A short time later Chief Kessler strode into the Security Complex, accompanied by an unknown Lieutenant. The general level of conversation dipped in volume as attention turned toward the CO. Without slowing, Jack arrowed across the room for the briefing area.

T’Fearne caught S’tek’s eye and beckoned him to follow as she trailed Kessler and the mysterious guest into the briefing room.
