((Outside the Turbolift heading to Transporter Room 2, USS Ronin))
Delphina tapped her hand against her leg as she waited for the lift, eyes scanning the report she’d had to file with a mixture of frustration and embarrassment. Not even an hour ago she’d been minding her own business in one of the observation decks, the next thing she knew her bag had been off her shoulder, and a hooded figure was bobbing through the crowd, never to be seen again. She should have seen it coming, really, but she’d been distracted by someone doing close-up magic. oO Which, you know in retrospect might have been part of the whole thing. Distract the idiot with flashy magic and then steal her bag. Oo
Luckily, the bag had been strictly for vacationing purposes, and aside from a few bits and bobs of broken machines and some handwritten music sheets. Anything of value had either been in one of her hidden pockets, or located in her room, which meant that the most the thief had gotten away with was a nice bag and some scrap. oO Still….. It was nice scrap… Oo
The lift opened in front of her, and Delphina stepped in, only to jump back in surprise as she realized that she wasn’t alone. For a moment, she was struck dumb at the sight of the stunning Orion woman she'd only seen a few times from a distance, mouth slightly dropping as she took in the whole…. ensemble. This was who had likely been responsible for the slashes in the wall on deck 10 if the knives dancing across her fingertips were any indication, and Delphina couldn’t help but flush as the door seemed to slam behind them. oO……… by the four…. Wait. What was her name? Oh, right! Oo
Wren: Chief Solana! I wasn't expecting to see you here….in this neighborhood….. ::attempt at a southern accent:: in these here parts….. oO….. what?? Oo
Delphina tried not to visibly wince, watching as Solana weaved the knife through the air with a grace that Delphina had never really managed. Making a habit of running everywhere and tripping over herself trying to get to her next project meant that ‘graceful’ was not the word people associated with her.
Solana: Apologies, Ensign Wren, right? Didn’t mean to startle you. Just practicing.
Solana smirked, and Delphina blinked in surprise, holding her PADD to her chest, awkwardly smiling. Solana was being… playful. Delphina didn't sense any real intent behind it, just a beautiful woman who was well aware that she was beautiful having some fun. But… all the same, Delphina certainly didn't mind. Fun was fun.
Wren: Are you going planet-side? I've been in and out of some of the resorts, but at the last one I got pick-pocketed, so I'm trying to file a report down there.
Solana: Decided to hold my CQC training class someplace nicer than the Security holodeck this time. The Azure Horizon Beach and Spa. If you’re interested. Open sign up for anyone on the crew that needs or wants to learn to protect themselves in hand to hand. I run classes as often as I can. It’s listed in the ship’s calendar.
Wren: oO That would probably stop me from being pickpocketed again… Oo ::eagerly:: That would be great, actually! My scores in self-defense at the academy weren’t… well they weren’t great. ::small laugh:: Though I did get into a bar fight once at an ill-conceived Klingon Slam Poetry night back in the day.
Delphina never knew whether or not she was being charming, but she hoped that she hadn’t come across as too pathetic. There were lots of starfleet officers who weren’t good fighters. She’d heard of a stellar cartographer somewhere who never even carried a phaser, but this was different. They were in an…. Exciting area. Maybe it would be better if she actually knew how to handle herself in a fight so she was less of a burden next time they had to go somewhere dangerous.
But, before Delphina could really say anything more, the lift came to a halt, and Solana was moving again. Delphina stumbled out of the way as the Orion threw her bag over her shoulder, and walked out of the lift, throwing a wink over her shoulder as she went. The door slid shut, and Delphina stood there for a moment, stunned, before she realized that she’d never told it where to go.
Wren:...... oh, okay…. She’s a menace.
((Azure Falls, Azure Horizon Beach & Spa, Lolagi IV))
Delphina stood at the edge of the tide pools, hands on her hips as she examined the small creatures swimming within while she waited for the rest of the group to assemble. The pounding of the water had somewhat ebbed her mental white noise, and she was enjoying just wading in the pools. After a moment of contemplation, she crouched down, touching one of the arms of a starfish that had been crawling around beneath the sand. Slowly, she pulled it out of the water, peering curiously at the slime trailing out of it. oO I heard that these starfish have an incredible ability to camouflage themselves… but that’s more of a biological examination. Oo…… After a moment, she held out a vial, catching some of the slime inside, before she silently recorked it, and put the starfish back.
Her brief distraction was interrupted, however, by the sudden eruption of movement from the nearby falls. Solanta burst from the basin, and Delphina almost jumped out of her skin as the vial was fumbled from her fingers.
Solana: Here for the CQC class?
Wren: Yes! ::shoving her still-wet vial into her pocket, smoothing it:: I wasn’t sure what we should wear, I hope this is okay ::she is wearing a variation of the skant uniform that ends in shorts rather than the standard skirt::
Solana/T’Fearne/Taj’el/:(optional): Response
Wren: ::awkwardly raising her hand:: We… did cover self-defense in the academy. One class for every year oO And I almost failed every single one. If it weren’t for Mordren’s wife I would have failed Vulcan hand-to-hand in a heartbeat. Oo
Solana/T’Fearne/Taj’el/:(optional): Response
Delphina still remembered the feeling of being slammed full-strength into the mat in her second year by a Klingon cadet. He’d been the smallest Klingon in the group, and seemed to have resented being paired with her, so he’d tried to win the fight as definitively as he could by breaking her femur. All she could really do was hope that wouldn’t happen here.
