((47 Lounge, Starboard Catamaran, USS Ronin, Lolagi IV))

Kel: My brother Kos is out in the islands somewhere. He's Andorian, a freighter captain.

Zh'taan: If he commands a ship, why didn’t he join Starfleet?

Raga: Not everyone feels the call to do what we do. There’s a lot of sacrifice and adversity in being in Starfleet that is not for everyone. And that’s okay. Some people would rather live their lives as musicians, or merchants, builders or scientists. Without the regimented nature of Starfleet or the risk that we inherently run towards.

Knight: Some people just want to be a part of something more…

Gideon started work on the half of his sandwich.

Any: Response

Kel: He's a very old school Andorian. We're both clan Reiji, very traditional. What about you Kelor? Do you have deep clan ancestry back to the days of the Empire?

Zh'taan: ::takes on a surprised expression:: Clan Reiji? I have very rarely encountered other Andorians from that clan. As for me, I come from the Omtala clan, from a military family. My family, especially my Thaan, is also very traditional. ::His gaze instinctively drifted toward one of the lounge’s windows, searching for Andor among the stars.::

The conversation was engaging; he knew almost nothing about Andorian Clans. It was all unfamiliar to him. You learn a bit during bootcamp, but it’s just a general overview.

Knight: ::between a bite: This is so fascinating, I’m unfamiliar with Andorian culture, something I may have to change.

Any: Response

Kel: What about you Raga? Any royal blood in those veins?

Raga: We’ve never had royalty, so no. The closest thing I suppose is not something I’d want.

Knight: The Kerelian system and politics are not my forte. I try to keep my nose out of that stuff for the most part.

Zh'taan/Kel/Any: Response

Raga: We’ve never had the concept of royalty as many other species seem to have had. The closest parallel would be telepaths. Which sadly I am one of.

Knight: Royalty, a bunch of self-important nitwits, as the Terrans would say.

Zh'taan/Kel/Any: Response

Raga: Because up until recently, my people put telepaths to death. For good reason. We’re not a naturally telepathic species. It was a trait forced upon us by La Tirano when it enslaved our world. Telepaths were its overseers. When we finally freed ourselves, any telepath or family that showed that genetic trait was purged out of fear of us being enslaved again. Sadly, it ended up being pointless since La Tirano is back and we’ve learned that telepathic Al-Leyans are one of the few things capable of shielding others from its control.

Knight: Some on my world have a low-grade telepathy, but nothing powerful.

Zh'taan/Kel/Any: Response

Raga: We do hold our artists in high regard though. ::he noted to hopefully lighten the conversation again:: Since everyone, regardless of Prote, is permitted to indulge in art as a pastime. Even though we have some dedicated artists too.

Knight: ::looking at the XO:: Arts are a big deal on Kerelia. Like I mentioned before, my mom is a touring singer who's been on the road for decades. I haven’t seen her in 7 years.

Zh'taan/Kel/Any: Response

Raga: I suppose, if you asked my best friend Serala she’d say I do have a royal title of sorts. Destroyer of Tables, chairs, holodecks, shuttles, shuttlebays, kicker of doors.

Gideon waved over the waitress and ordered another sandwich, this one to go. He’d already spent a bit to much time, and Hicks was no doubt hungry.

Knight: ::looking at Raga:: So you’re the one….

Raga/Zh'taan/Kel/Any: Response

The waitress returned, setting a bag down in front of him that contained another sandwich for the starved Hicks. He needed to get back to Flight Ops but didn’t want to be rude. So he started looking for an exit from the conversation.

Knight: I’d agree with that, seems the smart move…

Raga/Zh'taan/Kel/Any: Response

Finally, Gideon got up from the table and grabbed the bag.

Knight: It was nice to meet you all, Sirs, but I need to get back to flight ops before one of my corporals starves to death, and then I have to hear him whine about it..

Hicks could be a royal pain in the ass sometimes.

Raga/Zh'taan/Kel/Any: Response

Gideon nodded to the group and headed for the exit. Hopefully, no one noticed he was gone for as long as he was. Not that it really mattered in the end, but if the Major had a problem, he’d take whatever she had to dish out.
